i emailed Mcdonalds and asked what the weight or size of the big mac was when it first appeared on the menu, they refuse to answer.

It's not hard to find out-
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Mac

"The Big Mac is a geographically localized product. In the United States, the Big Mac has 550 kcal (2,300 kJ), 29 grams of fat and 25 grams of protein. In Australia, the burger is slightly smaller with 493 kcal (2,060 kJ) and 26.9 grams of fat, but similar amounts of protein with 25.2 grams,[21] while the Japanese burger tops out the scales at 557 kcal and 30.5 grams of fat. Several Mcdonald's subsidiaries adapt the standard features of the Big Mac (from the USA) to regional requirements."
  • This is what they are now, not compared to the past.

I'll stick with KFC. They pretend it's chicken, we pretend it's chicken - everybody's happy ;)
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

kids had not had one for 5 years live on an island no burger chains. they were very keen to try a mac again and later a subway. they could not eat the mac as it was over sweet. the subway not much better.
  • Love this thread, a mad OP who moans about our beloved McD's whilst buying their product.

    Only on MSE!!
  • I'm not entirely sure that you get the point of this "praise, vent and warnings" board. Is your response to anything negative "Don't use them then"?

If nobody vented about things that annoy them, and that they would like to see changed, surely there would be no reason for this board to exist.
I find it strange that you display such bemusement, and consider the OP "mad" for posting a vent in the appropriate part of the forum...But then I guess I'm weird like that.

    :starmod:you're awesome.. act like it:starmod:

Isn't the idea that people post about actual experiences that are based in fact?

It's quite obvious that a "Quarterpounder" is still fundamentally based upon a 4oz burger. To suggest otherwise without evidence (e.g. of a change in "small print") is nonsense.

I was veggie for over 20 years, and I was genuinely surprised upon returning to McDs after all that time that the size & formulation of burgers was virtually unchanged.

In the case of the QP, I did notice that it no longer had diced cooked onions, and that it maybe had less salt. But it's true that it has never contained salad in the UK.
