Which part of 'McDonalds' did you have difficulty understanding? :rotfl:
Perhaps Sillygoose was referring to this part of the OP?rufuschucklebutty wrote: »Burger king is ten times better.

Op suggested they were switching allegiance to Burger King....
Look a bit premature now don't we, I am sure it's not a new experience for you0 -
On a good note, I do like those peel and win things on McD's at the moment, can't be bothered with the monopoly group nonsense, too complicated. But if I get a free muffin or something its like whittling away at the evil of profit driven corporate exploitation of the free market economy. And it makes my gut a bit bigger.0

In my experience, the case of "watered down" soft drinks is very much a myth. Not saying it has never happened ever, but in the case of McDonalds and the like, it is extremely unlikely any deliberate attempt has been made to dilute the product more than is required.
To change the dilution ratios on these machines is a fiddly task and frankly not worth doing given the miniscule savings that would be made. Everyone knows post-mix drinks are not an expensive product to produce! Additionally, the equipment is usually owned and maintained by the drinks supplier (e.g. Coca Cola) who set the dilution levels and they don't take kindly to misuse.
Interestingly, McDonalds use a slightly lower dilution ratio to some of their competitors (Subway and Burger King use a higher syrup to water ratio to account for ice), so you will generally get a slightly weaker drink at McDonalds and some other outlets, compared to others.
The main reasons for a "watered down" drink are:
1) The syrup has run off or a new box has been put on, but not run through - unfortunately this happens sometimes, just take the drink back and suggest they check the box.
2) The dilution ratio is wrong - this happens gradually over time if the equipment hasn't been serviced, it will be adjusted whenever a technician services or repairs the unit.
3) Gas is running low - carbonation forms part of the flavour of most cola drinks, far more so than Sprite, 7up, Fanta etc or any diet drinks. If the Co2 needs changing, you will notice a significant change in flavour, even if the drink is not flat.
4) A box hasn't been connected properly, or there is an air bubble in the line - this results in a weaker drink being poured, simply ask the retailer to check their equipment.
I'm a franchisee for one of the big fast food brands and have been in the industry quite some time at all levels, I honestly have never been aware of either my company or any of my competitors actively watering down drinks!
probably too much ice making it seem watered down0 -
No. I'd agree with Crocoduck.0

It could be because they are now real beef burgers, which are a lot more expensive than horse burgers.0

Didn't McD have the last laugh on the horse saga? they have their own short track farm-to-burger supply chain, they have therefore been found to be completely clear of this scandal - they are usually the byword for 'junk food' but it seems it has less junk it than something from any supermarket.
Any word from Burger King on this though?0
