Hi everyone
I haven t done GC for about a year I think but I really want to reign my spending in and keep track. Think I will go for £190 to last till 25th so that's £10 per day for the 5 of us and the youngest is still in nappies.
Should be fun!!!April GC 9th-7th may £0/£3200 -
Morning all, I hope you are all doing great, I needed to pop back on here to get me back on the straight and narrow
I haven't been very well (suspected whooping cough and have quite a temperature today) it's only a couple of weeks since I was told I had pneumonia, so I'm a right miserable so and so at the moment!
I have spent another £61 since my last spend noted here, I'm not going to stress about it, but I do want to come in for the whole month at around £180 or under so have my work cut out.
I think there has been an element of 'comfort' shopping with being ill, as well as wanting to buy expensive stuff for my daughters as treats (they asked for fresh pineapple and coconut and I bought *%! Schloer at £1.75 a bottle)as we have a tough anniversary looming in that it's a year since we lost my husband/their dad and we are all feeling it and trying to be open about how we feel with each other, trouble is that very much part of what we feel is rage and bewilderment that he has been taken from us. The price of groceries seems insignificant in the scheme of things but obviously it's important. Uh-oh, rambling again.
I'm disappointed with Approved Foods in that I ordered on May 1 and got an email today to say my order would be leaving the warehouse within a day, I'd ordered Cadbury chocolate, Doritos, Appletize and some other bits and bobs at knock down prices, stuff that isn't at all healthy and I seem to be more keen on than my daughters so I'm a bit annoyed at myself and while I may keep an eye on AF in the future, I'm not going to be so quick to order. I hadn't bought any fizzy drinks since starting the GC and I'm not convinced they've been missed so shouldn't have bothered.
On the positive side my daughter made flapjack for their lunches and I made cookies while our dinner was cooking on Sunday and I used up some veg making some soup, so while I may be a bit annoyed with myself for spending so much with just a week of May gone, I'm pleased that new thrifty baking ways have kicked in a bit. I have enough main meals elements to plan until May 20th but will need school lunch stuff and fresh fruit etc before then.
Thanks for continuing to inspire, there are some amazingly low totals spent so far in May here and that's exactly what I need to see xx0 -
Hello all, I hope everyone had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend.
I got my Tesco delivery, and with a few lunch bits from the pound shop (£7 in total) I've got enough for breakfasts, lunches and dinners for the week, plus dinners for the rest of the month, I think. Judging by my stock cupboard, I think pasta salads are going to be the order of the day for the rest of the month!
Edit: I think I also have enough bodywash, shampoo and laundry detergent to last till September, so that'll save the pennies later on!Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

The end result was me looking remarkably like i had been dunked in an oil vat . Even four attempts at washing it out haven't got rid of the residue; so my :money: search for YS bargains has gone pear-shaped, as i now need to go and look for a clarifying shampoo to rid me of my greasy locks. I can see the funny side now, thankfully
.
Managed to wash this out this morning, so my hair is no longer greasy, but nice and shiny. I have realised you only need about a pea sized amount, not a palmful :rotfl:.So no need for an unnecessary shampoo purchase after all! Afternoon all, what a lovely day it is ... to be stuck in an office :-/
Saturday we had a BBQ but managed to split the cost with our next door neighbour.
Sunday DH, kidlets and I went off to DH's Boss' charity funday (DH had run 10K in the morning to raise funds) Hog roast, popcorn, candyfloss and ice cream all round. (Kidlets thought it was paradise!) Then got back and our neighbour invited us for dinner - result! NSD and free meals!
Just completed my first online Mr S shop (usually Mr T loyal) but got a £12 off £60 e-voucher. So spent £52ish including delivery plus nearly £3 to come back :T - gotta love the cashback on m*supermarket comparsion.

Finally, on having a sort out of my tinned foods yesterday, I found several tins with best before dates of 2010 ! what would you do with these. part of my thinks I shouldn't eat them but it isn't very mse to bin...
Eat them!! i would eat them no trouble
everyone's food looks awesome.. we have just about emptied the freezer now hurrah so just the cupboards to go. not too many odd combinations so far luckily
Thanks for the tip about squash peel - never thought of eating it but will now....
I've been using up some mince portions from freezer (chilli, spag bol etc) and have been grating a couple of big carrots in with the mince.. it's kind of a "mincy" texture when cooked and makes the mince go miles further so hurrah for money saving! because of this we have last night's leftovers for tea tonight
