I had a food shop delivered yesterday, my first in nearly a month so quite a big spend. I'm cross with myself because my delivery saver subscription renewed mid April and I've only just had my first shop so now I'm wondering whether having the delivery saver subscription is actually a good idea. I suppose I need to get organised and stop my many weekly visits to various food shops where I seem to spend money like water and instead make use of the delivery subscription I have and shop weekly.
I'm also frustrated because despite the life code information displayed on their website against products, I always seem to get food with very short dates ? Has anyone else had this?
Finally, on having a sort out of my tinned foods yesterday, I found several tins with best before dates of 2010 ! what would you do with these. part of my thinks I shouldn't eat them but it isn't very mse to bin...
I would open a tin and see how it looks, tinned food can last many years after best before, I currently have some tinned of ham best before 2009 and they are fine.Slimming World at target0 -
Still have not spent anything
The children and I have been baking Fruit Mincemeat Drops, which are delicious! We doubled the recipe and filled half with Fruit Mincemeat, and the other half with Lemon Curd. YUM! Here is a sneak peek at a few:
We also made a loaf of bread, which is in the oven at the moment and will be eaten with our vegan chilli later0 -
Ok so I had a bad start to the month including 3 takeaways so I disappeared for a while but now I've pulled my head from the sand and I'm thinking I may just do it.....
Grocery total is currently sitting at : £203.43 / £250
I shopped in Aldi for first time and got some good essentials. I will definitely be going back,
I also have so much food in my cupboards - I think I'm a compulsive food hoarder!!
So I have 23 days remaining tis onth and £46.57 to last.... I will try and use up most of the storecupboard as I go.... fingers crossed0 -
I would like to join the challenge for the first time please. We are aiming for £250 for the calendar month. So far I've spent £4.19 on the basics (bread, milk etc) and been living off cupboards & just come back from a camping trip (separate budget for that). There's just the 2 of us (and pets) but we have until recently been terrible for spending on food etc so we are finally taking control thanks to all the helpful tips on the OS board. We are hoping to slowly cut the budget down month by month.0

Hello all!
Bit late because I've just got back from holiday and have spent a good hour or so catching up on everyones posts. Has been a day of washing clothes, supermarket shopping (because I have nothing in), downloading photos, and nipping into the garden to catch some rays!
I would like to aim for £130 again this month. I went over slightly last month because I went out a bit, but I'll need to cut back in May.
Anyway - first spend of the month was £27.84 in Mr T (would have been £31.84 but had a £4 off £30 spend come through the post which was much appreciated!).
Got food required for dinner tonight and tomorrow plus lunches for the next 3/4 days. Also needed some expensive razor blades and some ant spray because they seem to have taken a liking to my place over the last 2 weeks
Hope everyone is well.Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Mam and dad have headed home after a week and a half. I love them, but it's great to have the house back again, y'know?
Adding 23.29 to total, mostly for fruit and veg and a couple of bits for dad's limited diet. Back to normal-for-us food now and can't wait for dinner!0 -
