Some spends to report! £1.29 on 4 pints of milk at local mini Mr T's. And I am so happy that the milk is the ONLY thing we have bought all week in between the 'big shops' :D

Spent £30.45 in a mini adventure to the big Mr T's today :rotfl: (it's not nearby which is why I get deliveries or shop in Mr M normally) which I'm very happy with as it gets us back on track following last week's blow-out.

    Fruit & veg £12.22
    Baking potatoes 2.5kg £2.18
    Green cabbage 80p

    Ginger 45g 9p
    Courgette 3pk £1
    Mixed salad leaves x2 £2

    Meat & fish £3.87

E'day Value washing up liquid 33p
    Springforce kitchen rolls 4pk £1.99
    Radox bath salts £1
Imperial leather shower gel x2 £2

Had have such a productive day in the kitchen - made carrot, lentil and ginger soup (which I costed as 12p per portion :D), a small loaf of crusty bread, chicken wings for dinner and eight bread rolls which are in the oven just now. Debating even doing some scones tonight if I can be bothered :)

The chicken wings were so good, it's a bit of a treat meal for us as I cut the wings off each whole chicken we buy and freeze, and as we only have meat a couple of times a week, it takes months to get enough wings! I wait til we have eight winsg (which cut into 16 pieces) before making - I have 4-5, OH has 8-10 and hopefully some left for lunch the next day (we have three in the fridge this time).

We had pizza + roasted sweet potato chunks - tossed in rape seed oil and mixed herbs + carrot, cauliflower, onion & swede for dinner. I was going to add some garlic but changed my mind.

Thanks Flo - it was the "5 minute" no-knead method as I got the recipe book for Christmas and haven't used it yet. Nice soft bread, think it needed another few minutes in the oven and just a very tiny touch "gummy" and not quite crusty enough. But I'm pleased with how it looks and will adjust the cooking time next time :)

Totally agree with you re the squash, the skin is really nice when roasted and it's such a pain to peel.

Big shop this weekend and a bit of a stock up needed - £27.33 MrA, £24.94 MrT and £3.70 Mr S. Big spend for us but hoping that we won't need to spend anything for at least a week now.

Gone over budget by £5 already. Bah, seems I miscalculated what with the holiday things.
  • Went to Mr W yesterday and spent £38.79 on groceries. Slightly less than I was expecting, and should last us until at least Wednesday I hope.

Did include some YS (expect in mr W they are not yellow:rotfl:) breaded cod, which we had for dinner yesterday with some baby new potatoes and green beans.

We're going out today, but are bringing a picnic. I had prepared dough in the bread maker and currently there 12 bread rolls in the oven (btw, what's happening with bread flour prices?? Couldn't find any in sm except expensive Canadian flour, bought 1 bag but have to see where I can stock up cheaper).

Anyway, for our picnic we will have bread rolls (mixed ham cheese cucumber egg), a couscous salad, strawberries and lemon cake. This is for lunch and dinner. And we probably find a mr whippy:D

Wishing everybody a lovely day, enjoy the sun!

I had a food shop delivered yesterday, my first in nearly a month so quite a big spend. I'm cross with myself because my delivery saver subscription renewed mid April and I've only just had my first shop so now I'm wondering whether having the delivery saver subscription is actually a good idea. I suppose I need to get organised and stop my many weekly visits to various food shops where I seem to spend money like water and instead make use of the delivery subscription I have and shop weekly.

I'm also frustrated because despite the life code information displayed on their website against products, I always seem to get food with very short dates ? Has anyone else had this?

Finally, on having a sort out of my tinned foods yesterday, I found several tins with best before dates of 2010 ! what would you do with these. part of my thinks I shouldn't eat them but it isn't very mse to bin...

  • Hi, just a small update from me. so far ive spent £29.52. Ive only got until this Friday and my months challenge has finished. Ive been using up what ive got rather than buying more, so hopefully I will come under budget this month.
