£50.01 spend on groceries today at M*rrisons :)
It's going to have to last a while or else it'll be the cat biscuits for tea..:rotfl:

That gave me a giggle, when my Son was about 2 I was horrified to discover him happily scoffing the cats biscuits, I sat up all night watching him, convinced he would be ill, he was fine but it took me about a week to recover

Food shopping day today, so i'll update later.

Trying to think of what i can have for a roast on Sunday, instead of chicken, but that isn't too pricey.

hehe, my youngest son used to do the same when he was a baby! The poor cat would go to find her dinner and the bowl would be half empty as he has eaten some!

Have you tried breast of lamb, WantToBe? It's quite fatty but roasts well and makes nice roasties. I stuff mine with a curry/apple stuffing. Not as nice a a lovely British leg of lamb, but a lot cheaper.

Or slow roasted pork belly? It used to be dirt cheap, but now trendy restaurants serve it up, it's got more expensive I've noticed.

We tried breast of lamb (tesco value one) a couple of weeks ago. As said by wentthedaywell? above it is pretty fatty but it was yum. OH roasted it on a lowish heat for about 3 hours & we stuffed it with a pack of value stuffing. Made a nice change & it cost about £3.50 and fed 3 adults & 2 kids comfortably.

Finally added up my receipts and I am at £270.96 out of £360. Not bad as I filled up the wine rack.

Off to Aldeee after work to get bits for this week and some bits for our week away next Saturday. I have my parents coming for lunch on Sunday and am making SW Coq au Vin and Chocolate and Raspberry Pavlova from the recipe index as I have just about everything in:)

I may go slightly over but as long as it is under £400 I will be pleased after my massive blow out last month:)

Thanks for the ideas of Lamb.
I don't normally eat red meat, and haven't eaten lamb in years, so i am not sure i'd feel confident cooking it. But i might give it a go nonetheless.
I like the idea of slow cooking it-can that be done?

Hello everyone, used to do this a long time ago but got busy/out of the habit, but need to get back on the savings train :)

My budget is £80 per week which I go way over at the moment, so aim to stick to that for a while then bring in more savings as I go. I will update with my spends shortly on my signature

    Thanks,

  • morning all :)

its the end of week 1 and we've done all our monthly stock ups, so a big spend this week.

    spends so far....
A!di £43.03 (did this good friday to use up a mirror voucher, stocked up on gammon, pork shoulder, and lamb legs)
$ainsburys £47.50 (on coffee, NRT lozenges, nappies, squash etc.)
A$da £19.25 (got some good bargains in the damaged and dented shelf)
    A!di £40.85

    total spent £150.63

On a money saving note our 2yr old has been enjoying a lie in and hasnt been having a bottle of growing up milk in the mornings so will be £7.50 a month better off soon.

Also I've been trying unsuccessfully to potty train her. She is having none of it. I honestly think she isnt aware shes doing in til it is running down her leg. Yesterday she came to me crying 'cant hold it!' and when i put her near the potty she ran off screaming. Fingers crossed it wont be long now and another £10-£20 a month freed up

Spent £25.64 in Lidl today, so going to update my signature in a sec.
I still have £10 left of this weeks grocery budget for top ups during the week.

On a side note- has anyone noticed that Tesco have stopped selling their Everyday Value Cocoa Powder? I couldn't find it on-line, and i can't find it in-store either?
I always use it in my baking, so will have to find something else!
