Final report for April spends inLidl of £27.01 and Mr T of £32.80 . So under budget again. I have a £5 voucher for Aldi and MrT for next week so I will do a monthly shop at both which hopefully after that will mean less visits for the rest of the month.Besides quiche I thought I might try making a frittata and salad and will try a cheese and lentil loaf cold with salad. Still thinking up summery menus. I have a huge bag of lentils to use , any ideas?

Dhal seems the obvious choice though i haven't personally cooked it myself. Lentil soup? I also made a Lentil Bolognese a few days ago which was delicious and so filling. You could probably do Lentil Chilli too

Spends of £5.89 today locally, £1.00 in One St*p on YS milk roll and YS salad tomatoes. Tried making milk roll myself but DD had one slice and left the rest to go mouldy in the bread bin. So would rather seek it out reduced, than bust a gut with the effort. £3.89 in the C*-*p on 2 for £3.50 strawbs and a £1.34 for box of C*co pops. Not healthy i know but DD is the fussiest child in the world, and i'm privileged if i manage to get breakfast down her in the morning. £1 in non-branded shop on honey, as i get a bigger jar for my money in there than Mr T Value for same price.

I will edit with last night's meal too. Managed to be :money: and coat the Thai fishcakes in the bagel breadcrumbs from the freezer.

Nipped into a small A$da this morning while I was out with DS and spent £6.66

For tea tonight we had some soup made from some veg that was in dire need of using up with some home made bread. Left it chunky this time and we preferred it. This was followed by some fish cakes, cauliflower & broccoli cheese and tomatoes. I had some chilli jam with mine as well.

Not declaring yet, but i'm already £36.53 over !! I know where i am going wrong, it is just trying to put it right ... being tied to this delivery saver hasn't helped either though obviously i have saved on deliveries in the long run. Mr T delivery was £68.33 minus £3.10 subs and £15.99 on cat food brings me to a £49.24 spend ...that's with the £12 off £80 spend knocked off. So a £49.24 spend. I won't use most of it til May but i am declaring it as April as that's when it was bought and delivered. Also got next week's Mr T voucher off a £40 spend and Ocado has also sent me one, valid til the 5/5. Good job i didn't buy the Daily Mirror aswell!!

Tea tonight was Aubergine and Courgette Parmigiana with Stellini. Will update later or tomorrow with a photo, but phone battery has just gone!

Morning all, I hope you have a lovely weekend. I'm not planning on buying anything grocery wise over the weekend as we are caring for my father in law today (sat) and under strict instructions that lunch is on him, then we are back with my in-laws tomorrow for a birthday dinner. I count presents and cards as from a different budget. Touch wood I will still be under budget by Tues when more bits will undoubtedly be needed.

I sound very virtuous with this challenge but blew £200 on 5 theatre tickets this week, part present for my mother in law and part treat for me as it's Lisa Riley in her Strictly spin off show and I'm a big fan. It's a big step forward for me to bother and look forward to something, the first anniversary of losing my gorgeous husband is approaching and the last months have unexpectedly been the toughest.

This month has also seen a battering of my entertainment/eating out budget and my girls are off out to the cinema with friends again tonight. On the one hand I sigh at the amount I've spent on meals out this month but I have to remember what a nice time we had and one was for my mum's birthday, another while staying (and being fed!) at her caravan for free, plus as I've more than halved my grocery bill and changed to a cheaper energy supplier/home insurance, my spending is much more under control than it was. And to be fair, it wasn't that bad to start with.

Thanks again to all who run and contribute to this thread, you have really helped me find focus xxxx
  • A couple of more spends to add; £6.92 in MrA on the smallest weekly shop ever seen unfortuntely followed by £6.23 in MrS on some offers. I'm taking £2 off this total and counting it in May as it was for store cupboard items only bought as on offer and won't be touched until May. This means I'm a tiny bit under budget (£199.59/£200) and purse is staying shut until May!
