  • I had a roast chicken on Sunday - I usually get a meal and a couple of days' sarnies before I get bored and ditch it. But inspired by this thread, I've had a roast, 4 days' sarnies (2 with tarragon mayo, 2 jazzed up in coronation chicken), and I'll have a chicken and veg curry tomorrow. Best of all I stripped the carcass and made a scrummy chicken and mushroom pie with a few mushroom that were on the turn - that served 2.

So 8 meals off a single chicken - I'd have never done that before! Thanks to everyone, this is my first month, and I'm a convert!

Good use of the chicken - wentthedaywell

Have spent £20.88 today and will need fruit & veg at the weekend. Brought some yogurt with 50% off that DH likes.

We had chicken in white wine with rice, broccoli & tomatoes for tea and very nice it was too. Have to say I cheated a bit as the sauce was a ready made one I found in the cupboard and was slightly out of date by a few months  (erm 28 of them)

Final report for April spends inLidl of £27.01 and Mr T of £32.80 . So under budget again. I have a £5 voucher for Aldi and MrT for next week so I will do a monthly shop at both which hopefully after that will mean less visits for the rest of the month.Besides quiche I thought I might try making a frittata and salad and will try a cheese and lentil loaf cold with salad. Still thinking up summery menus. I have a huge bag of lentils to use , any ideas?
    Sig updated.

Just squeaked in under budget for April at €599.95/€600 :j

Moving over to the May challenge - and it's a good start to the 5 week month for me with a fairly wellstocked freezer, fridge and cupboards so only a small shop required this weekend! :T
  • morning all :)
our month ends on sunday officially but im going to declare now as we have all we need in, so wont be spending this weekend.

went to the paper shop early and bought 2 copies of the mirror on thursday for the vouchers, went straight to ald! after the school drop off to get the shopping. my lovely husband brought me a copy of the mirror home that night. he said as i didnt mention it maybe i didnt know about it so bought me a copy. so now i have 2 vouchers, and the dilemma of squeezing in an extra trip to use it up and bump up the may budget or write off the 50p cost of the paper as a loss.

anyway only 1 spend this week
    Ald! £48.90

GRAND TOTAL SPENT IN APRIL £283.05

£8.03 over budget, but the freezers are full of portioned up joints from the easter deals, we have enough gold blend for 3months, and I'm half way through my shopping list to take on holiday with us next month, so all in all not too bad.

HUGE THANKS TO ALL WHO RUN THE THREAD! :T

Have a great weekend all, and see you in may :)
