Congratulations of salvaging your pears and bagels but as it appears that these were in date I think it worth
while to email and tell them, you may well get a refund.
I was speaking to a farmer the other week who supplies supermarkets. They said if people write in to complain (gone off, mud on potatoes etc) they get fined £50 a time! Sometimes it's just how they were stored in the shop though...0 -

Seriously? You'd think they would make enough to cover this type of loss without penalising farmers, wouldn't you. I don't even know what country of origin they where from now tbh.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £119.37/£150 £92.09/£150‼️Sep £/£160 Oct (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Co-op £2.39 yesterday.
Takes me just over April but my freezer and stock cupboards are better stocked than they were at the start of the month. I'm also under my GC running total for the year.
Signature is updated and is final April figure.0 -
A massive £74.41 to add from me from weekly shop, food and wine for a family gathering and a stock up on tea and coffee. Just one more (hopefully small!) shop to go this weekend......0

Had a spend of £2.60 on dishwasher tablets and four pints of milk but our challenge ends tomorrow so I'm going to declare at a by the skin of my teeth £178.17:j
Actually really pleased with this as I have loads of fruit and veg in the fridge and freezer through stocking up on super6 before they change. I have also done an inventory and have loads of batch cooked meals in the freezer which will last about 10 days. I have vast approved foods stocks so that should help May and June:)
I think I'll use my Aldi vouchers this week and next to stock up on meat, flour, sugar, juice ect so tht I should only need tiny top up shops during the rest of the month. That's the theory- we'll see!
See you all over on May

Had chilli con carne with turkey mince yesterday, and will do a few turkey based meals later in the week. I'm on holiday to Spain next Tuesday so will be re-doing a few recipes I've already had this month to save costs and avoid waste.
Had leftover Chilli for lunch and the aim is to only buy fresh veg until payday.Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Hi All
Truly disastous first monthly challenge for me - Budget was £450 and already spent £600 :eek::eek:
What I didnt factor in was the fact that the kids were home from uni for 4 whole weeks and so were A LOT of their friends who once they come to our house tend to stay overnight as we're in the wilds here.
Hey Ho, such is life, next week is a new month.....0 -

Have you kept a record of what you have spent the money on as this may help to see what areas need cutting back on.
NSD yesterday and today but shopping tomorrow. Have two leeks, one or two parsnips, some broccoli and celery that needs using up so can see soup making featuring in tomorrow's activities at some point.(again . .)
MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Last day of the month for me and a NSD. I've managed the challenge although it did look scary for the first 2 weeks! Declaring at £278.
Tesco delivery this evening out of May budget, and Alde shop tomorrow with the £5 voucher hopefully.
Off to May now, see you there!0
