Does anyone know the legalities of these annual fees?
Mine would be charged in November. If I don't cancel my card until, say, October, would they still be able to charge a pro-rata fee for the period from charging commencing in May until the point of cancellation?0 -
Well just reading all our thoughts, I have also been the recent pleasure of Amex's £25 annual charge for being "some so called" New Priemium Card (Purple holder) What a Joke, I spend between 1500-2500 p/month & enjoy the More Points Offer. Interesting info, New Customers dont have any annual charge & will have the enjoyment of collecting more points also. Its the same old tale, good/old est customers, Like "us" guys, "take it or leave it" New customers are welcome with open arms!!!!! MY partner has just been accepted for Amex, without all of these issues.....:rotfl:0

I have never received this letter and when I last logged into my account, an advert for More points and no annual charge was running across the screen (that was last week)...
Do you think it is possible that some people are excluded? I am thinking of giving them a ring.. Surely they wouldn't advertise no charge and More points if it was no longer valid...0 -

I've never recieved any notice either. Not that it matters as I don't use that anymore, I use another Amex, so if I do cancel it, not really an issue.0 -

Still would be a good to know whether to cancel it, no?
Well, I sent them an email... I hope I didn't just draw their attention to me and now I will also be picked!
But better than to find out that I am not earning the same points and I am going to be charged annual fee before the statement comes!0 -
There is a new free Nectar card out. Ring them and ask to transfer, that's what I did
Did this a couple of weeks ago after I received my letter.
BUT it means having to sign a new credit agreement and a credit check.£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250
£2 Savers Club 2015 #8 £250£200 :j

Right, so I got my reply...
Everyone is being changed to this card, unless they opt out. Even though they keep advertising More Points and no fees and extra points at partners.
I think they should remove the advertising if within a month it's all going to be scrapped!0 -
I've received my letter today, what with losing the ability to spend the points at Amazon I think it's time to cancel. We spend between our cards between 800-1600 a month on average so if my maths are right spending £1000 used to be worth £10 but will now be worth £7.92 based on normal retailers.
I guess it's still better than nothing but I don't like the idea of paying an annual fee. My letter states I won't be charged until after March next year though so perhaps I can cancel early next year and avoid the charge0 -
Had my letter yesterday too. Not impressed  Also hate the way they headline the letter as 'exciting news about your credit card!' ... since when has paying more for less, been exciting??
The deal was great while it lasted I suppose and I got enough Nectar points from it to get a free flight to Spain this summer, plus a lovely meal out at Bella Italia for me and the hubs.
Definitely cancelling it alltogether. Not worth the faff for 1 point per £1 spent. Perhaps I'll switch allegiance back to Tesco (still have their credit card - never got round to cancelling it!)0 -
Yep, also thinking of switching back to Tesco...
Might keep the 0 fee one for Foursquare promotions though.
Also considering Amazon... I buy a lot on Amazon, that is where I used to spend all my Nectar points anyway, so perhaps I should just get their card...
Anyone has different suggestions? I already have cashback card, I don't like the idea of getting my reward just once a year and I understand Amazon emails you vouchers as soon as you earn £10..
I would definitely use the vouchers, we have 2 kindles at home, we also like real books and I buy lots of products there!
If I am not mistaken the return is equivalent of 1% for spend anywhere?0
