gyming - I am totally at the stage where I have talked myself out of doing anything in the evenings after work, I'm gonna have to go through the horrible phase of forcing myself against my will until I start to actually want to!

Glad to hear mum is on the mend.
Totally with you on the above!

start building a spring/summer wardrobe that suits me - I'm 41 and don't want to look like a sad 20 year old wannabe but also not like my mum. Its a tricky one.

    :)

I'm 40 in June and am in a similar place to you. I also want to get my hair cut as I've had this bob (in various lengths) since I was 20 but fear I'll look like my mum if I go short :D
The problem is that I hate clothes shopping. I go once every few months buy a few things and sometimes buy online. I'm just not one of those people that enjoys browsing and trying on.

    The plan is to ....
    • Walk/run 100km - that includes brisk dogwalking but not the run round block strolls
    • Cut right down on rubbish food - not denying myself altogether as I'll give up but to stop the mindless eating and to eat more F&V
    • To drink more water - 1.5 litres a day - that will help both the complexion and snacking
    • Do 2 alternative sweaty exercise sessions a week - swimming/DVDs etc
    Anyone with me?
    :)

I hate clothes shopping too, mainly because I'm such an odd size. I'm somewhere between an 18 and a 22 depending on the style/cut/shop and I'm definitely a pear so my bum is 2 dress sizes bigger than my waist. I also have really chunky, tree-trunk legs so can't/won't wear anything shorter than ankle length and trousers need to be wide legged.

Will join you on the challenge minus the running, I'll just walk :rotfl: Not sure I can drink so much water either (I'll be running to t he loo all day!) but will up my water intake. Does sugar free cordial count? I could do it then.

His missus - Sugar free cordial definitely counts - I hate plain water.

I'm another one struggling with dogs in the freezing wind. Its so cold it hurts!
Never mind, I'm up to 10km so far since my new little challenge started.
Only a few more days to go at work - this half term has flown.

Off for another pint of squash and I've just counted 7 pieces of fruit and veg today (and thats not 7 peas!:rotfl:)......healthy eating is hard work!

Wow lots of updates in the last few days.

LL- stay positive :) It's ok to have an off day but remember it's amazing what a good night's sleep and a brand new day can do for you :)

Thisisme- welcome :) I'm a relative newbie but everyone is very very lovely here.

Fedup- out of interest what are you studying for? I take my hat off to you- finding the motivation to study off your own back is sooo tough- it's always a bit different when someone is paying you/ boss is breathing down your neck, so good for you :) Keep it up!

    WW - that's amazing 7 pieces!! I don't think I eat 7 in a week sometimes....nice work!

I have just done my third consecutive gym session- it must be because I haven't been in so long it is such a novelty- also I have got some cracking songs on my ipod. ALSO... being newly single my radar is on.. there are some very attractive males in the gym... haha terrible I know but if it keeps me in healthy habits then I'll enjoy it as a bonus!
Hoping to sleep really well following exercise.

Hope it's been a good start to the week all! x

    Good morning all

Fine at the moment but apparently more snow on the way and, according to the powers that be, mega amounts predicted for Saturday.:eek:

Let's hope this is winter's final fling and that we'll be done with it. Everyone I speak to says they are so fed up with it all.

For once - it really is "grim ooop north":rotfl:

Did a good shop yesterday, but I think it might be an idea to get some frozen veg and some spare milk and bread for the freezer.

Have put in an offer for DS2's little house, fingers crossed.

Thought I'd found a nice little cottage form me - about 3 miles from the city centre, near a marina. Double checked the Enviromental Agency and it's in a high flood risk area. So it's back to the drawing board......

Oh well I'm sure there will be something out there with my name on it.

Time to fab up and start the day.

    Morning All,

I've a busy week ahead but am hoping to find time to post. I didn't do too well on the healthy eating front yesterday but hopefully it is mitigated by the long run/walk I did - 20km - which took just under 3 hours in total.

Today I have a Pilates class which I will have to leave 5 minutes early so as to get to work, which I shall go to on my bike so plenty of exercise there. I've also packed up a healthy salad and a piece of fruit.

After work we are going into the city to visit the cash and carry so I might get a quick look round some charity shops - see if I can fab up my wardrobe a bit. I shall also call in at Lidl and stock up on fruit, vegetables and salady stuff.

    Morning Fabbers :D

I've been thinking about goals, not sure I want to set any. Nothing specific anyway. I have an idea then tend to throw myself into it and forget about everything else :D

My clothes are a bit loose but the weight loss is temporary, I think. It's come from not being able to eat a lot of things, rather than a proper effort to improve my diet. I'm a bit worried about what'll happen when my teeth are fixed and all that lovely food will be available to me, lol. Actually my diet is pretty good when it comes to meals, choc is my downfall. PMS forced me to eat some yesterday, it was quite difficult but I managed :rotfl:

I don't think I'm going to make much progress with anything at the moment, my teeth are constantly on my mind. Next appointment - hygienist on 8th april. Then I have to make another appointment with the dentist, he's going to take six teeth out. One near the front won't wait and it seems to be pushing itself out. I'm desparately trying to hang on to it til then :D I'm hoping they'll be sorted by the end of april then I can get on with other things.

All my posts are probably going to be about teeth. I'm obsessed with them at the mo - I'll completely understand if you get fed up with it so feel free to put me on ignore :rotfl:

tru - I had my teeth done about 10 years ago. Had really bad gum disease (caused by brushing my gums too hard and wearing them away) and ended up with falsies. It's a big deal going through it but you'll love your smile at the end of it all xxx

I actually want all the teeth out (general anaesthetic please) but I don't think I'm going to get my way :D Gums are receding, helped along by my smoking (I know I KNOW!!!). I've cut down a lot but I know that's not too helpful - I really need to stop. I'm still convinced that the teeth won't last much longer but will do whatever the dentist says.

I think they try to save all the teeth they can but I put off going to the dentist for so many years that they were beyond saving by the time I plucked up the courage to go. In fact my bottom gum has receded that much, I find it uncomfortable to wear bottom dentures so only ever wear the top set. No-one ever notices until I tell them.

Not sure what is going on with my skin but my face now has two enormous, Mount Etna sized spots. Maybe I'm a bit run down, sounds like a good excuse for a lazy weekend :D

Just filled a bottle with 1.5l of sugar free squash - my, that's a lotta drink! Gonna try and drink a whole one whilst at work, don't drink much in an evening or I'm all night :D
