The problem is that I hate clothes shopping. I go once every few months buy a few things and sometimes buy online. I'm just not one of those people that enjoys browsing and trying on.
I suppose most of my clothes come from shops like Next, Debenhams, H&M and M&S. I should probably have a look at the Gok books - good idea. Will see if I can get hold of one.

Have just been thinking about how to kick start myself again and have decided to give myself a 4 week challenge. Its just 28 days from now to Saturday 20th April so surely 4 weeks is a commitment I can handle?
    The plan is to ....
    • Walk/run 100km - that includes brisk dogwalking but not the run round block strolls
    • Cut right down on rubbish food - not denying myself altogether as I'll give up but to stop the mindless eating and to eat more F&V
    • To drink more water - 1.5 litres a day - that will help both the complexion and snacking
    • Do 2 alternative sweaty exercise sessions a week - swimming/DVDs etc
    Anyone with me?

Just going on the first walk - have decided to ignore the weather and just get on with it! :)

    • Start building a spring/summer wardrobe that suits me - I'm 41 and don't want to look like a sad 20 year old wannabe but also not like my mum. Its a tricky one
Any tips on the clothes quandry would be welcome! How do I look youngish and stylish without looking like one of the kids I teach or a complete saddo? I wear suits for work so that's easy - its the rest of the time that I need to think about. I don't think I look that bad just wondered what everyone else thinks? There's always room for improvement :)

Same here! I'm on the way to 40 in 6mths time and that sums up how I feel about clothes and style. I would like to look stylish at all times :D. It's a ticky age in the shops when you know some things are too young but you like them and don't want to look like mutton dressed as. Mind you a lot of it is how you think about clothes - state of mind, as usual, impacts upon how we feel about our selves.

Time for a coffee and a little snack before starting the usuals. That dog walk this morning was pretty deserted and deep with snow. Just warming back up and its still snowing!

    Winter wonderland here too.

Not going out, all appts cancelled. A nice potter and some fabbing.

Might have a bit of a wardrobe sort out. My iron has died, perfect excuse.....

Treacher - welcome back. Sorry to hear about your mum and your unsupportive ex.

You're a woman after my own heart. If they don't deliver the goods, they're out. Shape up or ship out is my mantra. Plenty more fish in the sea.

Ladies have a warm, snuggle down day. We can't fight the weather - time to just give in gracefully and hibernate.

Ahh yes WW people tend to be Marmite on the subject of shopping... having spent a long time working in retail and now left I am just about getting my shopping mojo back but before it was too much like a busmans holiday!!

I am not yet 30 but I still go in the shops and think :| :O Who could wear that? It's about finding a signature style isn't it and sticking to it...I work in an all girls school and they ae so much better dressed/ more stylish than me ha!

Anyone use freecycle? I'm just putting a few things on there in the hope of shifting some clutter. Ebay is too complicated with having to post everything and pay for postage which is a fortune.

Well done for everyone getting active already and lessonlearned I think I may join you on snuggle/ potter day after my errands have been done!

Just back from a very cold 3km brisk walk against a horribly strong wind - took 30 mins and the dogs are shattered, they're only little to be fighting against the wind!
I'm writing a list ready to go shopping with - lots of good things to be bought. Minimum rubbish!

  • The snow has really hampered my efforts to get out walking but I did do a short walk yesterday (very bracing!! Biting cold wind) and I am planning a longer walk today.

    My fabbing goals for the next 12 weeks (or so) are;
    1. Eat a wider variety of food - try out new recipes. I am in a bit of a rut with food and seem to be eating the same stuff week in week out. I especially struggle with what to take to work for lunches. I am looking to eat more fruit and veg.
    2. Lose 1.5 stone.
    3. Exercise - swim or walk - daily.
    4. Improve condition of skin - daily cleanse, moisturise with weekly treatment mask. Throw out any stuff that does not agree with my skin.

I'll join you on your 4 week challenge Welsh Woofer as they are all goals that I want to achieve. I usually go to 2 or 3 exercise classes a week but they are stopping for Easter so it will make me do something in its place. I shall also make the drinking water one include weak sugar free squash as I find I drink a lot more if I make squash than having a glass of water. It's very weak though.

I didn't get my wardrobe sorted yesterday as a friend came round for a couple of hours but I did get everything washed and mostly ironed so I can make a start with everything in one place.

I've got a really busy 3 weeks working as I'm the opposite of when I was teaching - my son's business gets busier in holiday time so I do a lot more work for him than in school time. That should keep me from snacking between meals though as I can pack a healthy lunch each day and make that do.

Today DH and I plan to sort out a few jobs round the house - moving sockets, wiring in new lights etc - I decide where things go and he does the practical bit. Once I have sockets by my new bureau I can move my laptop and put all my filing away which will be a big help.

I probably won't get a walk in but have a long run planned for tomorrow - weather permitting. Hope everyone has a good Sunday. Keep warm!

I'm exactly the same - I don't like plain water so use no added sugar squash.
I'm just about to go for the first walk with the dogs but its still really cold and windy here - getting fed up of this weather now.

I did manage lots of water, some exercise and fairly good food yesterday. No chocolate or sweets but a few nuts.
I need to get my hair dyed today and to have a defuzz later. Lots of boring marking and lesson planning to be done too. Only three days left to go at work this week as I'm on a course on Thursday.

Right, better get cracking before we have puddles on the floor (the dogs not me:rotfl:)
