If all goes well with house-with-garden-and paddling-pool, maybe you'll be invited to another one. There would be plenty of space to stay over too.
It would be doing me a favour anyway, I'll feel silly having bbq's on my own (not that I would let that stop me).
Yes, hunched over an expensive BBQ you've had to source, buy, lug home, set up ... and learning how to light one, get the right coals...... just to cook one cheap burger for one doesn't really appeal does it :)

Better to get the frying pan out then sit in the garden to eat it. But then it's not the same. Maybe the answer is a camping stove and camping frying pan in the garden for singles!

Have you scoped out Ikea online yet Nikki for ideas for stuff for your house?

I've had a quick sneaky peek, but I'm supposed to be concentrating on other things so haven't spent too much time :)
Besides, I don't want to jinx things. I've got enough to live with (e.g. pots and pans, airbed) so could cope for a little while without buying much.
As I've said it has been a student let. I don't think the vendors have any other lets, so I'm kind of hoping they will offer to sell the fridge/ freezer/ cooker/ floral sofas to me for a reasonable price. if not, I'll buy a fridge and worry about the rest then (I do have a camping stove).

I wouldn't buy an expensive one, and my mum buys cheap split bags of charcoal from the place she works. I've been getting in a bit of practice lighting them since my brother emigrated too :)

Camping stove wouldn't be the same. Besides, that might end up being my main stove for a little while!

Saturday Kitchen used to be good, then it went "up market". They have Victor Meldrew on there and are cooking a meal for him.... and you can see he's [1] confused/bemused by what they are cooking [2] and will clearly never make this at home.

They're making a ragout (he didn't know what one was) - and making pasta from scratch (yeah, like that'll happen), using a food processor (which he's probably not got) .... and when you look/listen they've got 3 chefs cooking it and if he started now to make it alone it'd take him about 3-4 hours.

I've never lit a BBQ and never seen one lit. I did see a "nice looking" small BBQ once, it was a metal pig with a handle on his back, lift the handle and the small BBQ was inside. So it was a small garden-ornament style of thing that was quirky. Probably costs an arm and a leg.

Could probably cobble something out of a Fray Bentos Pie Tin and an old grill tray :)

Disposable BBQ 2 quid plus 1 match.

Was driving last night. Devon would have been fine if the phone (on the rare occasion it did have a signal) hadn't kept telling me it was 5-10 degrees warmer and much sunnier in St Albans. Went to hope cove one day which was nice, kids had some swimming lessons in parents (posh alert) pool which they shivered through in the rain. A lot of time was spent at Woodlands amusement park where the lack of phone data signal was annoying. Contemplated mentioning to a np that we could come home up the a303 last night but decided she had enough on her plate without being invaded by some very active NPs.

Take note another NP who lives on the South Coast, we are in Bridport for the bank holiday weekend and intend to try and drag you out for a disposable BBQ on the beach one day while we are there, whatever the weather!
    I think....

I knew there was something I wanted in Lidl yesterday .... something I don't usually buy .... and I was in there 10 minutes before they closed and had forgotten to take some carriers, so was carrying a basket and an empty box and my little list of what I wanted (it wasn't on the list).

Just remembered.... I wanted some crab sticks. They had some in Tesco, but they were £1.50, so I was after the cheaper ones at Lidl. Oh well, it wasn't important - wouldn't have been able to use/open them for a week in any case as I've other food that needs eating up before then.

You have to eat food in the order that it'll go off by .... so it's more yorkshire puddings and veggies for me today.

Which is a complete expensive waste of money.

£2 for a BBQ to cook £1's worth of food. Need to spend £5 on a solution that can be used 100x.
