It was always the same with calorie counting, I could never start at the higher amount, I always had to go straight for 1k calories per day and nearer 600 at the end of the diet to lose those last few pounds.
There is another way of calculating calories that isn't widely used - and that is an easy calculation based on your current weight.
At any weight you need X, Y, Z cals per pound to: lose, maintain, gain weight.
These are roughly 7, 10, 12 cals per pound.
When I weighed 115 pounds (end of diet), to maintain that would take onlyy 1150 calories/day. OK, one can increase exercise... but, well, it's exercise .... pfft.
Even when I started that diet, 3 stone heavier, my "maintenance" figure would have been only 1500 calories per day.
Right now, my weight maintenance requirements are just under 1400 calories/day0 -
Yesterday I had a roast dinner - 2 small roast potatoes, some pork, small amount of stuffing, roasted carrots and a tiny Yorkshire pudding.
And that was my lot for the day apart from copious amounts of tea made with a very small amount of semi skimmed milk (I cannot stand milky tea, so have it strong, very strong)0 -
Unfortunately, they were shop bought ones. the only ones left in the shop (I had forgotten to buy some before so it was a last minute dash to the local shop) and tasted awful....I don't think I could have forced another one down me they were that bad.
I can make my own but I didn't have the core ingredients either! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Does that make you a dame?!
If I weigh 11.5 stone is that 161lbs = 1610 calories a day to maintian weight? I reckon I eat 2500-3000 per day and generally stay the same weight and that is with no exercise at all.
Anyone know any good sites where it is easy to just put what you eat and it keeps a calorie and nutrients tally?I think....0 -
Don't quote, will delete
Just got a letter advising of another bl00dy check by agents. They did the last one in December. I hope that's the end of it! I can't live with 3 visits/year interrupting me.... for starters I've now got to try to minimise all the stuff I got out of storage, which is in boxes taking up 6'x7' in the bedroom + the bike!!! Have to make it look like a bedroom (dress up the airbed) and god knows what with the rest.... probably put a load of stuff in the car for the day0 -
