Rib is a traditional cut for roasting. We had a joint of 3 ribs which was big enough for 6 of us with quite a lot of leftovers.
The decision at the butchers was between a rolled sirloin or the ribs...and as there were 4 hungry men to feed it seemed the best value as rib was cheaper than sirloin....it also looked very traditional.0 -
We had a joint
We went out for lunch today with a few colleagues; Beef, potatoes, carrots, green beans, sprouts, broccoli etc, washed down with 4 bottles of wine between 8 of us.
Oh, and apple pie and custard for afters.
I've been really ill this week, so it was nice to get a few hours of socialising, before work tomorrow (I'm on 1st train to Geneva, from St Pancras)
LiR, I completely forgot about you, and I'm really sorry. Do you still need my services?💙💛 💔0 -

I've never been on a weightwatchers diet but would be smart to do so. I know people who've done it and it's got good reports. I gather it makes you think about what you actually need to survive on and it turns out that's a lot less than we consume out of habit. Plus it doesn't forbid very much and allows you to treat yourself which must be good for motivation.
I walk the dog every day (what's Wheezy up to these days?) but don't get much exercise otherwise.
Intrigued by the 5:2 business, nikkster - is that what I think it is - an alternating fast/feast programme?
The good thing with Weight Watchers forms is that it isn't prescriptive beyond
- don't eat too much
- have breakfast every day
Your food consumption necessarily drops as a result of the diet and I have found that I have retrained my appetite as a result.0 -

Cooked pizza for lunch with potato salad and lettuce/tomato salad and chicken curry (mild, curries here are always mild with the kids) with naan for dinner. Also did Sains and trip to Potters Bar to get 'new' from ebay PC (25 quid) to replace broken one of a month ago, in the end just swapped over motherboard as this seemed quicker than moving all the drives, power supply etc. Sometime I will get a 'new' ebay mobo and have a second PC out of it - and think the DDs need a second PC in their room (1 each). Then serviced the bicycles and went for a ride round the block with the kids as this was on a promise, it was nice to finally have some weather slightly resembling spring. Also helped someone out with some debt problems. Cold is finally drying up.
I wish the weekend was starting now.I think....0 -

learning how to do european style knitting and it's much quicker
I only ever knitted teddy scarves (short attention span and tiny balls of wool) - but I still managed to start with 20 stitches, then every time I counted them again there'd be a different number between 17 and 23. Edges were a bit wobbly.
I also remember doing finger knitting, with the long wooden thing with 4 nails in the top.0 -
I forgot - we also had yorkshire puddings ... I will edit my post.
They were good for me ...well risen .0 -

I felt I had to quote that, sorry. Did we know that? Seems sort of major information, mainly because I thought of vicar's as decent people, not people that would do the dirty.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
