Arrived at work, put car park card in carpark barrier machine and got the message "card black listed"

Got admitted to carpark after buzzing the 'man' and by now having quite a queue behind me.

Arrived at a meeting I am responsible for organising, VIP arrives on time, but the chair of the meeting did not turn up - has sent late apologies. The vice chair is also missing..and has to tracked down and hurried along.

Head of car parking team agrees to sort my car park card out.:)
Get to my office and log in "user unknown"
I checked in case I had been sacked overnight but no one had told me. It could be teh way we are doing things now.

Ring IT help desk..and log the fault.

Feel symptoms of UTI grip me. Ring GP surgery to explain and request antibugs...this is normal for me..recurrent problem, known in last 12 months have hospitalised me for IV antibugs. Receptionist says..no. I have to go in, give sample, nurse (auxilliary )will dip test it..then I have to await duty drs decision on whether to write a script which they will dispense for me or send off to micro.

Rest of day at work is cancelled...I will leave go provide sample, get drugs, get on the mend, work at home.

Leave office go to car park office, get reprogrammed card.

Walk across site to car park..a long way...drive out of car park, put card in machine...machine eats it. Buzz explain calmly, get let out sans card. Getting in tomorrow will be a pain in wotsit.

Get to gp surgery (28 miles), pee in small container, hand to receptionist, who hands it to health care assistant, who looks at me and goes off and tests it straight away:). Emerges few minutes later and confirms I have an infection and traces of blood. Duty GP will write a script...later...they will ring and I can go back about 5pm to pick up antibugs.

Did a small amount of work this afternoon but could not concentrate as I was creased up.

    Tomorrow is another day,

Spirit, that sounds like a nightmare. Any chance you can have the day off today if you are not really feeling any better? Is the gp just far from your work or far from home too?
    I think....

(have decided the shoes that wanted and outing are just too flash for that crowd, :o

Bugslet rule of dressing ( only to be superceded by someone who knows something about fashion, like fc), the rest of them are underdressed, you are never overdressed.;)

Does everyone remember their first broken heart? In retrospect I wonder what on earth I was upset about. Beautiful to look at though :D

    Him or you:D
Re directions: On the whole I can smell the right route automatically... a sort of 6th sense.
    .

You have the job! I wonder what bit of the brain it is that makes people good or not at directions? I'm good most of the time, but when I get it wrong, I get it really wrong.

It isn't appropriate for me to relate them here but he IS this super sensible lad and he does UNI all week away, travels back to see DD and work in a supermarket sats and suns plus he runs sports clubs down there and so on. He is now entering his final year and he feels he must do extremely well (he doesn't come from an academic family).

She is doing the sensible thing and is going to fill her time with stuff whilst he sorts out his head and life.....so she has joined our gym/leisure centre (yes, we booked our cycling class today) and we went to Bayswater for a web design apt today and popped up to Nike to get her some trainers, she is doing a 2 day photoshop course in 2 weeks time and so on. She has some nice mates to go with too.

Se says she won't 'sit in and wait.

His other reason is she was his 1st GF and he wonders how you know if one is the right one....fair enough he can say that to her too and she does accept his point of view.

They both sound eminently sensible people. My first love was Mr Bugs, and we had a break of about 18 months, which was probably a good thing to do at the time.

Antibugs? I may take that personally:p

Sounds like a really carp day, I hope you are feeling better soon and the trials and tribulations of getting into the car park are over - it's the samll things that really tip you over the edge when you don't feel well.

Parent has rewritten her will, specifying that if anyone puts her in a home they lose their share of any inheritance. If she loses her marbles she wants to be cared for at home with as many carers as required. No consideration on whether this would be practical. Sigh. .

Whilst I'd prefer some mythical option that doesn't actually exist unless there is oodles of money to throw around, arranging residential care ( sounds better than putting in a home), was the best option for Mr Bugs and for me. Even it had been remotely practical to give up work, I'd have been ill myself just trying to take care of him. We had carers come in for a short period of time, but it didn't work because what he needed was someone there all the time, in case. Whilst I'd like his/our money, I'm happy to give it up for the peace of mind. I hope it doesn't get to that situation where you need to consider care for her.

Let's just say its been a difficult week. Something that should be fun (and would have been easy as piddle for me to do without the rest of the committee tbh.....I've organised bigger parties and gigs with shorter notice.....only thing I haven't done before is get my own license for booze but....) anyway, its all turned very tense. One b1tch asked the rest of the committee how they deal with the 'heathen' question (smiling at me).

I'm happy to wear a black dress, my quieter shoes and a night I was looking forward to and am devoting my precious and sparse energy to will still be leached for every amount of fun possible, :)

The joy of committees? There's a reason I never get involved and you've just outlined it. Dogs, so much easier, eh?;)

40 is young...and sorry to read of your loss too.

I think that different people have different tolerances though and it does make a difference if the alcohol is drunk whilst eating food........something to do with fatty acids but the scientists on here would know more.

I guess one can never know what is really too much by guidelines as we are all different weights, different internal weaknesses. and so on.

I have a cousin who has had a drink problem for many years and last time we saw him he had lost a lot of weight (but was still normal size as he was very overweight before) and he had a tanned tinge to him, slightly jaundiced look. He said he was off the booze. He is 46.
I don't know of he stopped in time as the liver can't regenerate I don't think.

AIUI, the liver can regenerate itself until it starts scarring, what might be called sclerosis of the liver. This can be caused by boozing, illness (e.g. Hepatitis) or conditions like obesity or diabetes.

Once the scarring starts it can't be reversed however you can stop it from advancing further with a change in lifestyle, if the scarring was caused by lifestyle rather than disease in the first place.

If the scars build up enough, blood can't get into the liver. That means that you'll not be able to take many vitamins and especially protein out of your blood so you can use them so you end up with malnutrition. You'll also be unable to store as much glycogen which I fuel for your body so you feel tired all the time.

I don't know if it shows but I've done a fair bit of reading up on this in the last day or so!

After 36 hours reflection, I feel sorry for my mate and I'm sad he's gone but we've all got to die from something and to some extent he's chosen his way out, at least as much as an addict has a choice.

I didnn't like to phrase it quite so bluntly yesterday, but I agree. Better a life lived and all that.

I attended a cremation of a customer two years ago, she was 44 and the attendees, were her parents, an ex boyfriend and then a few people she knew via work. Whilst not everyone wants to live life at a 100mph, she was always restless and dis-satisfied that her life was 'small'.

Sounds as if your friend was not a dis-satisfied man, that has to count for a lot.

No, I'm saying that I am, and you led me on. I was on water until you arrived and started buying scrummy red wine. Then it all spiralled downhill. :)

Edit: BTW, when are you going to lead me on again?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Its ok, I could be a bigger cow but wasn't. Both the fact I could have been AND the fact I wasn't have left me feeling a bit smug.

    ;)
