I always add a personal recollection of a good time in there, a memory that you treasure and can share with parents. Difficult to write, but much appreciated at the time.
When people die you've never got enough photos....

It looks like hemmorage is caused by cirrhosis of the liver. The liver scars so badly that the blood can no longer flow into it and eventually internal bleeding results, usually into the stomach.
He told me he was an alcoholic 15 years ago. I'm quite a drinker too. Perhaps I should stop for a while.
40 is young...and sorry to read of your loss too.
I think that different people have different tolerances though and it does make a difference if the alcohol is drunk whilst eating food........something to do with fatty acids but the scientists on here would know more.
I guess one can never know what is really too much by guidelines as we are all different weights, different internal weaknesses. and so on.
I have a cousin who has had a drink problem for many years and last time we saw him he had lost a lot of weight (but was still normal size as he was very overweight before) and he had a tanned tinge to him, slightly jaundiced look. He said he was off the booze. He is 46.
I don't know of he stopped in time as the liver can't regenerate I don't think.Does it help her feel better when you and DH find the whole thing funny?lostinrates wrote: »Fc, I'd normally go as me, but the chaos this is descending into I'd rather go with a bag over my head. The shoes are my gingham and bling 'em trailer trash heels. Perfect for summer. Instead I'm going to wear some others(pic below) ....nothing special, dune.
Hope the broken heart mends.. Poor thing.
Well, they met tonight for a talk and there are some other unrelated pressures going on in his life and he is struggling to fit everything in........and it made a lot of sense.
It isn't appropriate for me to relate them here but he IS this super sensible lad and he does UNI all week away, travels back to see DD and work in a supermarket sats and suns plus he runs sports clubs down there and so on. He is now entering his final year and he feels he must do extremely well (he doesn't come from an academic family).
She is doing the sensible thing and is going to fill her time with stuff whilst he sorts out his head and life.....so she has joined our gym/leisure centre (yes, we booked our cycling class today) and we went to Bayswater for a web design apt today and popped up to Nike to get her some trainers, she is doing a 2 day photoshop course in 2 weeks time and so on. She has some nice mates to go with too.
Se says she won't 'sit in and wait.
His other reason is she was his 1st GF and he wonders how you know if one is the right one....fair enough he can say that to her too and she does accept his point of view.
We will see................and be there with wise words of wisdom0 -

Arrived at work, put car park card in carpark barrier machine and got the message "card black listed"
Got admitted to carpark after buzzing the 'man' and by now having quite a queue behind me.
Arrived at a meeting I am responsible for organising, VIP arrives on time, but the chair of the meeting did not turn up - has sent late apologies. The vice chair is also missing..and has to tracked down and hurried along.
Head of car parking team agrees to sort my car park card out.:)
Get to my office and log in "user unknown"
I checked in case I had been sacked overnight but no one had told me. It could be teh way we are doing things now.
Ring IT help desk..and log the fault.
Feel symptoms of UTI grip me. Ring GP surgery to explain and request antibugs...this is normal for me..recurrent problem, known in last 12 months have hospitalised me for IV antibugs. Receptionist says..no. I have to go in, give sample, nurse (auxilliary )will dip test it..then I have to await duty drs decision on whether to write a script which they will dispense for me or send off to micro.
Rest of day at work is cancelled...I will leave go provide sample, get drugs, get on the mend, work at home.
Leave office go to car park office, get reprogrammed card.
Walk across site to car park..a long way...drive out of car park, put card in machine...machine eats it. Buzz explain calmly, get let out sans card. Getting in tomorrow will be a pain in wotsit.
Get to gp surgery (28 miles), pee in small container, hand to receptionist, who hands it to health care assistant, who looks at me and goes off and tests it straight away:). Emerges few minutes later and confirms I have an infection and traces of blood. Duty GP will write a script...later...they will ring and I can go back about 5pm to pick up antibugs.
Did a small amount of work this afternoon but could not concentrate as I was creased up.

Confess, I have only gone back 2 pages as we had A Crisis this week with DD. Bless her, she is heartbroken, teen love and it's all so odd too. Will update later as it has all been so upsetting.
Oh that is sad. Poor DD..and maybe poor fc parents.
If he is gone for good, and you liked the chap, you may be surprised how much YOU and OH miss him.
We grew so fond of DD's first love.0 -
The thread goes off at 1PM for a few hours and we'll be in radio silence over the weekend from Friday.
Here's a good tune for those turning in - very catchy (apologies for the swearword).

Spirit I hope your work's IT system doesn't turn out to be run by one of those companies I read about in the Private Eye that just popped through my letterbox.;)
FC I hope DD's relationship works out happily one way or the other. It does no harm to be apart for a while. I know a uni course in London where people commute every week from Glasgow (by coach) and Madrid (by air). There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Aww. Hope she carries on handling it as well as she has begun to.Get to gp surgery (28 miles), pee in small container, hand to receptionist, who hands it to health care assistant, who looks at me and goes off and tests it straight away:). No no no no. You should have them straight away. Waiting for treatment if there's a good reason is one thing, but for something like this where you know what you've got, you've had it before and the treatment's straightforward (and cheap) there's no reason for them to leave you in pain any longer than it takes you to pick up the script and drive to a chemist.
When I was having loads and loads of the wretched things - think 5 days treatment, a week or two healthy, and then the next one - I came to an excellent arrangement with my GP. I had a sterile pot to pee in, and about 4 tablets ready in advance. Then when the symptoms arrived I could do the specimen and then start taking the medication, and worry about getting the specimen to the doctor and getting a script for the rest of the course of antibugs once the treatment had already started. That was the amazing doctor who tried all sorts of things to stop me getting them, and ended up prescribing an ultra-low-dose preventative antibug for me to take all the time and it works like a dream. If you carry on suffering frequently, you may want to tell your doctor about me.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Whale watching, we saw 2 whales.
Sorry to hear about losses of friends and boyfriends.
We've re-written wills, removing guardian recommendations.
Parent has rewritten her will, specifying that if anyone puts her in a home they lose their share of any inheritance. If she loses her marbles she wants to be cared for at home with as many carers as required. No consideration on whether this would be practical. Sigh. Probate only just done on late parent, still don't know what it said, they did have matching wills, so I guess they left all to each other.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
