Caspar! Should I wait and let PN do the honours?
28 C already in my office on the top floor of my house. I am wearing shorts ......... and a watch. Hoping the doorbell is not going to ring. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Had the washing machine guy out today. My 3+ year old big drum Pannasonic washing machine is making noises so he condemned it as they don't fix the bearings.
They are either going to give me a new one (with a new 5 year warranty) or a credit note for what I paid. Result!!
Just an update which may benefit michaels at some point...
Got a call from Pannasonic yesterday. The girl said that she was just trying to locate a 147VB4 which is the equivalent model for what I had. That model only has a 2 year warranty and as I had lost a bit of faith in the product I told her I wasn't happy.
She called back and said my local agent had a 148VG4 which has a 5 year warranty and better specs all round and costs £70 more going by the cheapest online prices I could see.
The guys came and fitted it today, took the old one away and it's nice to have a quiet machine again.
Pannasonic don't seem to be the most reliable but they do have a good backup system in place for when things go wrong.0 -

What a great word - "misadventures". Note to self - must remember to use that one.neverdespairgirl wrote: »One of my sisters also, to mock pretensious use of French bon mote, says things such as, "it had a certain quelle heure et il".
That one I love too.PasturesNew wrote: »I am so unposh, not only did I not know there was a difference.... I am staggered that there is a difference to be noted!
I went to school with an effeminate boy called Aubrey .... he used to sing Tulips from Amsterdam. Bet he turned out to be gai.
Because he was effeminate and sang Tulips from Amsterdam? Or because he was called Aubrey? The only Aubrey I've actually met was anything but effeminate, or gay either - a great big bald bloke with lots of muscles and loads of children (with his wife). But then he is American, which may account for the unusual choice of name.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
DS's appointment with the dyslexic handwriting person went brilliantly this morning. At least, she and I think it did, even if DS is too much of a perfectionist to be convinced yet. It just shows how much difference it makes to have one on one help.
Fantastic - even if DS isn't yet convinced, did it cheer him up?Whilst you gain your short commute you do lose the chance to put them in the paddling/swimming pool on to the trampoline etc with central London living (and the pool may also have experienced some skinny dipping when it was dark last night
True. I do need to go down to Kent, where paddling and grass and shade are in much greater supply than in central London!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
You need to fit your house/office with proper batpoles. By the time you slide to the bottom to answer the door you'll be properly attired (well it worked for millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne).:D
Like the getting-out-of-bed-and-dressed machine that Wallace and Gromit have?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Not that he will admit, but he's not seriously resisting having another session, which probably means that underneath he does actually think it helped.

Doesn't that one wash you as well as getting you out of bed and dressing you? Or am I imagining more than I really remember? If so, I could really do with one of those for DD on school mornings.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? You sound (not just from that post, but from lots of them) like someone who remembers what it's like to be a child. That's entirely a positive thing - I don't mean you are childish at all, but childhood isn't a mysterious zone for you.
My Mama remembers it, too - so when Isaac left some lego in Kent, she posted it to him, with a carefully-printed envelope addressed to "Master Isaac <surname>", remembering the pleasure that getting something in the post, addressed to you, gives as a child....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Just editing my 20 page report that I stayed up all night to finish. I use a small typeface, single-spaced, so that's a long report. Just finished editing paragraph 6.147.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Email it off, pour a nice glass of cool water, put your feet up......
...... and breathe.
We're off to play tennis (me, and Isaac). As it's 30 degrees here now, I might have had better ideas....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
