That's really good planning. I think your parents are absolutely right to talk to you all about it, difficult though it is.
Mine did too. Then I told them to leave it all to sibling, who needs it and wants it more, but do what they could to spend it first. My parents won't have much to leave now they have separated and I really want none of it.
I like that DH and I have what we have ourselves. It might be less than we might have in different circumstances, and it doesn't involve some debt, but I feel 'clean' and safe.0 -
Amount the nice people there must be some beer drinkers right?
I just bought some beer from a small brewery for dh's friend who is staying on Friday night. Its come out of a wooden barrel and into a growler. Should I be storing this in a cool dark cupboard like wine or in the fridge.
I think they will drink it on Friday. I don't really understand beer.0 -

Ot may be there is a certain frisson from walking around naked?!
I beleive one of the reasons that no farmers can ever afoord farmland is because it is a tax dodge allowing wealth to be passed down between generations so all the tax avoiders have bid prices to crazy levels.
It's not random land, it's the land around my parents' house in Kent. It's not a huge spread, I think it's about 95 acres. So when they bought it, the titles were registered as two parts, the house and immediate surrounds, and the land. I think.lostinrates wrote: »That's really good planning. The end result, my parents intend, is that all their estates are split into equal 4ths, for their four children. There are various life interests for the parent who lives longer, but that was in the "la la la I'm not listening" stage. With any luck, they'll live for ages and spend lots of it on wine, song and fast cars, and waste the rest....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
That s how it normally is, not random land, but land around a house you live in, or in your village or whatever.
Its rarely random land. Sometimes is, but most people put it where they live or have interest.0 -

DH said no more. He feels the three in combo are too distinctive ( part of why I never say what type of fruit kiwi is ). Big dogs aren't common, but not rare, and to have one with greys, is not weird at all, and dog dog and kiwi aren't so identifying (I could be any number of nefarious types)but with the three together its a bit of a unique combo we think. So now kiwi is more identifiable as what he is, rather that a cute ball of fluff DH said no more snaps on open forum.
He used to say no dog dog ones, either, so he might relent.
I don't really see the need to disagree with him over this issue, but I do miss sharing cute pics sometimes. It might become a case of 'where's kiwi' in the back ground of other pics :rotfl:0 -

That's sad (but understandable). I loved the kiwi pics
So, the spending has already begun.
Over £400 for a valuation. Ouch.
Spent the day trying to do some kind of research into conveyancers and surveyors. Even more confusing after a poor night's sleep.0
