The loins of the ladies who lunch will now be in overdrive for the next 2 years, hoping to produce a future match .....

Funny how "her" parents have disappeared, they must have been leant on by the heavies "we don't want common people mucking up our royal line by getting their mugs in the paper with their inadequate responses..... you're to stay out of sight...."

Every one should do what I do and read fiction, much more satisfying at times like this.

I am doing...oh, you mean you lot are real :rotfl:

What I should be doing is more work, send me away if you see me around this afternoon.

That sounds very promising Lydia, if there is progress after only the first lesson.

If ever we meet, then that is exactly what I shall do and refer to you as Mr Rali until I have your permission to address you as Gen:D.

You may call me Gen and we shall toast each other with a gill each of sack upon our meeting as we are clearly kin beneath the frocks and coats of modern disguise.

DS's appointment with the dyslexic handwriting person went brilliantly this morning. At least, she and I think it did, even if DS is too much of a perfectionist to be convinced yet. It just shows how much difference it makes to have one on one help. It only took her a few minutes to work out that the reason he's never held his pen correctly is because his fingers and thumb are double jointed. Nobody's ever realised that before. Anyway, he has produced some beautiful writing, even if very slowly and with a limited selection of letters so far, and I'm impressed. She's coming back next Monday. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

    Sing her encore, or lip-sync?
Love to have seen a big pair of garden shears be produced for that one!

I've got annoying Nigel Slater on my telly now... making pastry. BBC1

He's making a ploughman's pie, with cheese pastry.

Pastry + parmesan. Roll it out and put in a dish. Rest it in the fridge,
Coxes, don't peel, just chop roughly. Soften in pan with butter, add cinnamon and 2 cloves.
Tip apples into pastry, fold over the edges (which don't meet in the middle.
Egg yolk brushed over, sprinkle with cheese.
    Bake 30-40 minutes

Made enough to feed 6 ... the greedy bugg4h.

And now he's talking directly in the camera with his mouth full... the peasant.

I'm not a fan but you really do take this to the next level. I like that.

I did enjoy, on my due date, wandering into several shops near to home and on being asked, inevitably "When's it due?" replying "TODAY!" and getting the looks of panic from those who feared they might suddenly be pushed into midwifery.

I remember interviewing a lady about homelessness once. Obviously very pregnant, so I asked when it was due. She also said "today!"

    Quickest interview I ever did...;)

As a caveat, I will add I was the first aider, so would've had to deal with anything happening...
I've got a mate from Dudley/Stourbridge .... but still only got 90/100. I failed on the sweeties question.

Ah... that explains why you're an expert then. I'm afraid I gave up history as soon as I was allowed to.

I think the adolescent brain isn't capable of finding too many things interesting. I know so many scientists who thought history etc were boring at school, and discovered when grown up that it's actually quite interesting (as long as one hasn't got to write essays about it) but also lots of arts & humanities types who couldn't stand sciences at school but have similarly developed an interest later in life.

I experienced similar, studying philosophy at university. Developed quite a thirst for reading the stuff after graduation! Why couldn't that have happened a year or 2 earlier?:o
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Caspar! Should I wait and let PN do the honours? :)

28 C already in my office on the top floor of my house. I am wearing shorts ......... and a watch. Hoping the doorbell is not going to ring.

Similar temperature here. Isaac's refused to get dressed properly, and is wearing pants and a T-shirt. Caspar, on arrival, stripped to match him, and they are now building a lego castle or something.
Rupert and Tarquin not available then?
    :)

It's a subtley different naming stream. No Rupert, no Tarquin, at Isaac's school. But there are plenty of children called things such as Cosmo, Caspar, Sienna, Aquamarine (girl), Octavia, Beatrice etc. Isaac's unusual in having a Biblical-type name.

When my Dad saw the class list on the fridge, he said, "John? That child's in for bullying in the playground for having a weird name....."
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.
