Tough luck on the menstruation, I think.

I'm not lascivious or wanton, pure as the driven snow, that's me. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

Edited to say - LIR, your PM box is full

    Not any more it isn't.

    10/10, I've still got it!

My favourite wrong answer was "they'll build a ring road around Stourbridge before I do that".

It's an obvious trick as there has been a ring road around Stourbridge for decades. All about the inside knowledge.

So, the BIG news today is that somebody called Kate has gone into labour. About as exciting as Big Brother. :(

It would be pretty funny if after another week or so, Prince William came out the front of the hospital with Kate minus bump and they just shouted "suckers" flicked a few Vs at the photographers and ran off.

NDG, I'm not denying the appallingly misogynistic applications of various doctrines over the years. :( I'm just trying to evaluate their origins in terms of their historical context rather than our own very different circumstances.
... traditional Judaism has always been ... in favour of ... consensual, mutually-enjoyable marital sex !

So, on the whole, has protestant Christianity... this was part of the reason for the abolition of priestly celibacy in the reformation.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Anglicanism also got rid of the "cleansing of sin" part of the Churching swiftly after the Reformation - in the Edward VI prayer book, from memory.

Just a head-up that we can't see this thread (or other hidden ones) or post anywhere else on the forum this weekend. Or PM anybody.

From 7pm on Fri 26 July the forum will be unavailable for around three hours, then will go into "read-only" mode until Sunday 28 July (earlier if possible!)

NB In "read-only" mode you’ll be able to read the Forum but not join or log in, post, thank, send PMs etc. Buttons that normally allow this eg thanks, reply etc won’t be visible"

Didn't know that specifically - although I'm not surprised by it. Learn something new everyday, eh? Thanks for educating me. :)

I did history A level, and 1/4 of the syllabus was on a special subject - and ours was "The Mid-Tudor Crisis, 1540-1560". So the Reformation as a subject has stuck well in my head.
