Yes, that could make a lot more sense then. Most of the people where he works have second homes, one as far afield as Australia! It's something we're looking to for the future. No real interest in letting out, it's ours and I don't really like the idea of strangers in it, though plenty of people interested in sharing.
Sharing on a small scale appeals to me, I've had good experiences previously with 1/4 or 1/8 shared ownership of light aircraft and boats, and I'm always surprised more people don't do it with holiday houses.
If a half dozen people teamed up to buy a holiday cottage, you'd be talking about 20K each or what have you, and have 8 weeks a year access. Which would be plenty for most people you'd think.
The whole big company timeshare thing doesn't interest me, don't know why, maybe I've been biased by all the bad PR from all the scams going around previously?“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

The difficulty is finding the half dozen people who know each other and are all ready, willing and able to buy into the thing at the same time, and who all fancy the same kind of property in the same location etc, I imagine.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Same here, though DH was working for Disney at the time so got a staff discount... Plus we could see it was a good investment. If we were to do the same now, it would cost roughly 3x as much as we paid. The benefit of being in early. It's worked well for us, we've had cheap holidays for nearly 20 years and could sell up and get more back than we paid. Plus you don't need to go to Disneyworld (or Disney anywhere), it is a very bankable location so you can swap with pretty much anywhere in the world. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I don't have the money full stop. I would need a mortgage.
It is very pretty though... and I could however go 'shares'.0 -

In my continued pursuit of getting out more, and following the LemonJelly lead I am actively looking for concerts/etc .
A CD on today made me google for tours and just booked Leonard Cohen for the Spirit family, in Bournemouth at the end of August.
Einoudi is on there in November ..and there are still tickets...but Mr S is away on the date.0 -

No worries of weather/flights, holdups and blockades. Just a car and a tank of petrol.
A colleague has a holiday home on IOW. It takes her an hour door to door. They are there a lot, and friends are happy to pop over for the day/evening or to stay so they really get a lot out of it.0 -

Sitting in a pavement cafe watching the world go by...
Something I've long wanted to do but haven't yet is go up Tour Montparnasse. Views over Paris, but with the Eiffel Tower in them.

I love the Eiffel Tower too. I know it is the single most touristy thing to do but it is fab. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
