It's hot today. Hot, hot, hot.

My right foot is really, really swollen. Raised them now, but really hurting. I'm going to have to bite the butler and put them in iced water I think.

Lucpnch and tea were both great. :)

Oh, lir, I hope it's not so bad you have to bite him... Get the butler to fetch the iced water instead :D

I've just (finally) managed to light the barbeque...

They can do if you let it out when you aren't there.

In Spain, where there are a million unsold flats and loads of empty hotel rooms, it looks like they are legislating to ban private owners letting their flats out. That will help the hotels, of course, but reduce the value of the unsold flats still further.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I can very much recommend jumping in the 'pool', we decided that we should go to Sains in the afternoon as it is AC there but were still hot and frazzled by the time we got back but 30 minutes just chilling in the blue water when we got home was certainly what the doctor ordered - the water is warm enough that I could just get straight in and sit still. Of course it could not last too long - we stil have a fair bit to do before 2pm tomorrow (party time). I have managed to fix the printer - I gave it a large shot of vodka via a pipette, gave it a stern talking too, left it to stew for a couple of hours and then asked it to photo copy a full colour image and third copy was in glorious technicolor.

One thought is to wait till the guests arrive tomorrow, do a quick snap and then print it and iron it on to the bags, I think this is too risky and will tie up an adult for the whole party so I think we will just do a design tonight and get the ironing done. Has anyone done it before and got any tips?
    I think....

I always hate the way that annoying "Place in the Sun, Home or Away" woman always bangs on about the income people could make from the properties she was showing them to buy.

Until I was 9 we always had a paddling pool, similar to this: http://www.beachbumswarehouse.co.uk/images/4aac265289d49de81445f626523815f1.jpg - and most photos of me aged under 5 were of me sitting in a paddling pool.

My advice was to forget all that faffery .....

    Never done it.

what are NP's favorite things to do in paris? going on tuesday and haven't got time to look things up. :)
When I was a passing through Paris on our way to the south of France with some mates we had the strange experience of being in the city on a bright sunny Bastille Day.

Utterly eerie. Massive wide roads, wide pavements, no cars , no pedestrians no shops open. :(

Felt like we were in a disaster movie or a post-apocalypse sci-fi scene. Total silence until we faintly heard, then saw a car pass by in the far off distance and were relieved to see it, even though it several blocks away. Can't remember the year but the neon streaming news signs were reporting conflict in "Tchad".

Sharing on a small scale appeals to me, I've had good experiences previously with 1/4 or 1/8 shared ownership of light aircraft and boats, and I'm always surprised more people don't do it with holiday houses.

If a half dozen people teamed up to buy a holiday cottage, you'd be talking about 20K each or what have you, and have 8 weeks a year access. Which would be plenty for most people you'd think.

The whole big company timeshare thing doesn't interest me, don't know why, maybe I've been biased by all the bad PR from all the scams going around previously?

I remember reading years ago about a car-sharing syndicate where people owned shares in a series of cars, but it was a mix of practical city runabouts, estates, and at least one fancy sports car.

The idea was you were entitled to a few months use every year, spread across the range of cars and there was a booking system. It wasn't the only example of a car-sharing system but it was one of the better -organised and interesting ones. Quite envied it but it was in the section of a newspaper where you're supposed to envy it.

Presumably the members were all close to where the cars were stored/parked and they were all vetted to keep out the rapscallions and ne'er-do-wells who would affect the system the way a full stop affects a sentence. ;)

I put all the meaty or creamy left overs away, but left the plates to clear. Just came in and the cats were eating avocado on sourdough from a left over plate.

Even I gave my cats a withering posh alert.
