I cannot for the life of me understand why people buy smash, or ready made mash. The height of laziness imo. Up there with ice cubes, ready sliced cheese, ready grated cheese & other such "time saving" innovations that really are not worth the journey/effort & taste like muck.

we bought ice cubes on saturday. there were 22 people coming for lunch and it was 27C :)

    I deny everything, it wasn't me, I wasn't there.
    :)

You wouldn't have enjoyed the walk. At one point DW did say "I guess there is no bye-law against wearing just a watch, sunglasses, and a sun hat?" (Plus loads of SPF30.)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

cash for clothes? how do you get that? we mostly just send our to the charity shop

You put it in black bags, they come and weigh it and pay you 50p a kilo or whatever and take it away.

A friend of mine does it with her kids clothes and she always says it doesn't feel worth the faff for 20/25 quid till you realise that four times a year its a hundred quid and it seems more worth it.

Is DG Ok, we don't seem to have heard from her for a while?

    Bike assembled
    Pool played in
    Cake mixed (now baking)
    Dinner for 8 almost ready
    Presents opened
    Recorder music 'appreciated'
    Parents gossiped too
    Architects bills paid
    Birthday party stuff ordered
Follow up email appreciating quick delivery sent
    But....

Promised cycle ride still to happen
    Grass still to be cut
Cake to be iced (just icing sugar and lemon juice)
New pool filtration system to be set up

So odds of much needed early night = zero
    I think....

It's SO hot here that one of the nice builders (nice builder the youngest) has been struck down by a heat headache. I went into older woman mode ...shocking realisation that this young man is not old enough to have experienced a 'real' summer in this country, asking how much he was drinking (water and otherwise) and what was he eating etc etc.

I don't know if it is relevant, but a tip I was taught when I got heatstroke that I use every time I get heat head or pass out from heat. Get a largish towel, chuck it in cool (not cold) water until saturated. Wring out a little but not much and wrap around head. Lovely...
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

DH is busy. Really busy. Her son is doing exceptionally well with his rugby and her husband is practically living here again as of this week. This time I have her cousin too, who looks like her. He is really young and good looking, he's been around for a couple of weeks, and parking gets difficult because somedays ALL my clients want to visit[STRIKE]to gawp [/STRIKE] to ask things and I have to send them on their way and tell them I am not, despite what silver car thinks :o:D running THAT sort of business.

Yes, it's good, we do it with dogs and ponies too.

Another tip I gave to young builder, is when drinking beer in this weather makes sure you drink water in between :rotfl:

Our drive looks like its running the "how many silver cars can you fit on the drive at any one time competition".

All DS2s friends seem to drive silver cars - mainly corsas. There are parking restrictions on the road for one hour a day. To park on the road means using one of our visitor permits and we only have 20 free scratch card permits a year. So they all try to squeeze onto the drive.

Now they are 19 the novelty of all driving separately to wherever has worn off. They haven't mastered the skill of using the most accessible car or planning the exiting strategy when parking.
