I now have motor boat envy again. I like this more than sailing which is too much like hard work , and scary, for me. Motor boats on the other hand are like caravans that go to sea. This is like a holiday every good weekend in the summer for them.
When much younger, I was at sea in a motorised yacht (sorry if that's not the right term, not a sailor) when the top hatch bolt broke in a force 9 and it took on water. As a non sailor, my job was to bilge pump out water. Another wave hit the boat, I got hit on the head by something and knocked out. I came round after taking on a diesel/sea water combo and hallucinated for the next several hours until we were saved. Never, ever, have I had such trouble in a caravan.... and never, ever again!I lived in Staines for a year. One of my housemates was almost arrested for speaking French.
It's a dump although at least it's not up north or something. It's grim up north.
I worked near Staines for 14 years. Strangely, I never felt the urge to live any closer than Hertfordshire. It is far too flat round there.Street party here today and most years it is raining and too cold...so this year it is too hot.
Is having an annual street party a posh alert?
I went shopping in Harpenden today and it was lovely. The local teenagers were doing something like a Happy Harpenden day and giving away balloons, pizza, flowers and cup cakes just for the heck of it. It made it a lovely atmosphere, a bit like a street party and everyone was happy. I think I would live there if I was posh. It is lovely.
I hope that your street party gave the area a nice mood too. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I do find that a little insensitive.

Well the zumba is finished, the fire engine has been and gone, the barbecue has been digested, the cakes are being eaten, the kids are scooting, cycling, chalking the street, playing table tennis and table football and surprisingly many are in our paddling pool out front or the pool at the back...whilst the adults are kicking back with cold beer listing to the band doing their first set. If Carlsberg did street parties....
Happy days micheals.
Today we interred the ashes of our friend in a lovely garden of rememberance followed by lunch in a pub and a wander around the street fair in Winchester.
A teen offered my husband some free fluff, which he gratefully accepted after checking if belly button fluff was available. She gave him a cotton wool ball.0 -

That is quite a good age for a bunny. I am sure your girls are a bit sad, small pets do help children understand about the circle of life.
It may feel early days...but there are lots of bunnies in rescues needing a homes. After the demise of one of ours this week, we will get another from a rescue to keep the 'widowed' bunny company.0 -

I remember some time ago thinking that while herts is clearly the spiritual heartland of the NPs, Berkshire/Oxfordshire is the geographical heart and about the only place for a meetup that most could get to (including the west midlands contingent).
Used to work near to Staines. It always made me think of the Member's song Solitary Confinement. A desert of a place, it seemed. So was Woking. It surprised me that so many punk bands were from affluent suburbs, I'd imagined it was a working-class music, but really it was bored lonely distracted kids trying to fill their time and feel they were part of something that was happening. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I stayed in all day; no point going out, nowhere to go that didn't involve "making up somewhere to go, then wondering what to do once I got there, then coming home again soonish as I'd want a drink, something to eat or the loo". Billy no mates .... sitting without two halfpennies to rub together on a beach .... not 'fun'. So I didn't even think about doing it.0
