The nice weather prompted industry in the jelly garden over the weekend.
Repotted the growing tomato plants. They'll only need moving up one more time.
I repotted the last of my chillis from the tray they were in. However having repotted some on saturday, when I was repotting sunday, some of the already repotted ones looked distinctly the worse for wear. I'm not sure many will succeed...
Planted out the onions that were in pots in the greenhouse.
A couple of the carrot tubs have also been planted out.
I think I no longer have room to plant anything else out.
Project eradicate every blimmin weed kicked in again with major force & resulted in backache.
Also finally got around to giving the lawns a much needed mow. Composters are now full again.
Need to plant some more lettuce this week, & also get the cucumbers planted into the ground (saved a space for them). It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Good luck with the trial, give 'em hell.
I'm off to Le Touquet for a couple of days. See (some of) you when I get back!0 -

You visit some very odd homes, have to say!
People have odd tastes.
E.g. DH has some peppermint cordial. I think it'd rather have cystitis sachets. I'm not keen on Kim chi or Kim bab, ( spelling probably wrong) but my Korean friends probably eat pannecotta with the same polite distaste while thinking about klean prep as a palatable alternative :rotfl:0 -
Our weekend activity involved getting the garden in to full summer mode = putting up cantilever umbrella, removing winter cover from swing and patio furniture and putting up 'swimming pool' - the latter got filled from the hot tap so the kids had a great afternoon even if in 3 hours it only got to about 8 inches deep (out of about 2'6 when full and 10 feet across). Pool was an ebay buy and I have also ebay purchased a salt filter system to keep the water clean. Next purchase would be a heat pump water heater but at £500+ this is a whole new order of magnitude over the 30 quid I have spent on items so far. IN theory it saves £10 per day on heating costs so pays for itself in one summer but that assumes you would spend money on heating in the first place - using the hot tap to heat is also much cheaper except that you have to then throw away warm water when you top it up.
A quick question for Lydia - what is the (specific) heat capacity of water and how many joules in 1kwh? (Or better still how many kwh does it take to warm 5300 litres by 1 degree?)I think....0 -
Spent the weekend moving house, bit stressful. Especially since I don't really want to leave. But I know it's for the best, and I'm starting to feel better about it now; seeing at as a fresh start and a new opportunity. People keep saying to me it's only for a year, which is true, but I still feel like it's a year of my life...
Anyway I know I'm being an ungrateful sod, so I'll stop whinging.
Bought a DAB digital radio for the car, so that's cheered me up a bit. Second hand off ebay but it's as good as new so that's saved me over a hundred, and the stereo the car came with has seen better days so it's not a just an extravagance! Keeping the old stereo to put back in the car for when I part ex it in in a few years so hopefully should get a lot of use out of the new one.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wow. I didn't know you could get dab for cars now, I want one! I wanted one for DH ages ago, but couldn't get one, then forgot about it,
Please let me know if its good! Here we get fairly poor fm signal ..infant dab isn't brilliant, but easier to find.0 -

Coughs politely. Generally they only insist on one finger and one toe being varnish free.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Sounds like one of those questions where the answer is, "if you need to ask....."I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Mm will do! So far so good with it, but I'm having trouble sorting the aerial, having another fiddle with it later. I guess if you had it professionally fitted you wouldn't have any problems, though.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0
