There's an argument from some very weird experiments on mice which sems to suggest we get out intellect from our mums and lour temperaments from our dads. Which (barring autism) is brilliant for my kids.:beer:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

Mere pedentry, my dear....
Re books - how about Swallows and Amazons?
Nope, that involves boats.
OK, try Swallowdale or Pigeon Post from the S & A series, very little about boats in those. Or The Picts and the Martyrs....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
It's overcast and cool here .... who stole our summer?0

I can't keep up with you lot!
In Aus we have 7 a day: 2 fruit and 5 veg but potatoes count. The best nutritional advice I've heard is: "Eat mostly plants, not too much".
.
I can never keep up either, it's like a full time job and I'm off again tomorrow for two days, so it'll be catch up again.
That eat plants, mostly food, came from Michael Pollen, who came up with a number of sensible suggestions /rules for food, including the gem, ' If it arrives throught your car window, it's not food';)Me too, just 3 carpeted rooms left here which will all become solid wood eventually. The Only bit that may stay carpet is the stairs and upstairs corridor, I think wood on these will just be too noisy. Sometimes on rightmove you see carpet in the bathroom - to me that is just gross.
Just pulled up the carpet on the landing and toying with what to do with it. Everywhere else is hard flooring apart from one bedroom which is next on the re-decoration list. Trouble with having two very hairy mutts is that you invariably get a tumbleweed effect.
On the subject of dogs and germs, all I can say is that in 20 years I've had about four colds, immune system of a horse. Wether the two are related or not, who knows!lostinrates wrote: »You know how women do their hair for the hairdresser? Kiwi is at groomers next week so I just about to bath him.0 -

Nice builder. It rains when he visits me, (that's what ip put last summer down to) He's due this morning.0 -
As for washing kiwi before a visit to the dog groomers, all mine get is the occasional knot cut out of their fur, certainly never get washed before they go!0

Pretty chuffed, already got the little lawn at the side of the house cut.
. And a wash on, the bath 'cleaned'. (Actually cleaning my bathroom takes ages because its so grotty and nothing is simple scrub and rinse, but i bathroom moussed the inside of the bath ....) a wash on, a wash out to dry.
House Los like a (dust) bomb has hit....but I see little point in tackling that before a week of building work so I'm just going to pretend I am oblivious to it.
Should now continue with the washing up mountain but I just don't want to. (Need to do it soon, because the fish I want for supper is in the chest freezer under some of the pile of dirty dishes, need to clear the dishes to get the fish).0 -

His locks had got a bit matted and the slicker was going over some spots, not through them, so I wanted to brush him wi conditioner in his wet coat instead, as I would for my curly hair. It worked brilliantly.. It means I have to cut out less for them. I haven't bothered much with the bits that get trimmed back to nothing.....that chin, for example, really needs scissor ing, but they can do that, and I won't worry about it spoiling his trim.
After I washed him and dried him he went out and rolled merrily on the lawn :rotfl: I don't mind, he smells better and is in matted through his top knot. His hair matts daily, I am thinking of trying a silicone spray on it to see if that reduces the matting.0 -
You can get de-tangle spray for dogs, which means you can just brush knots out.0
