That is good. I'll post Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Enjoy!
Edit: I've had to buy two PBS albums now! Thanks lj! This is supposed to be a moneysaving site!:o
I'll have a listen to your reccommendations tomorrow!
Meanwhile, enjoy PBS. I've found the album to be superb. Really loving the postal service/night mail song! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Not knowing doesn't stop things happening!
Trust me, being alone and single is much better than feeling like you're sponsoring someone else's lifestyle
On which note, I went out (alone) to see some comedy tonight. Henning Wehn (German comic who has started popping up on panel shows like 8 out of 10 cats), was a much welcome laugh after a tense end of the week. I just hope everyone has their 'game faces' on early next week, as we have collaborators visiting. Its definitely not right, when I'm the one trying to be the grown up!
Henning Wehn is great. Keep meaning to go see him.
I'm off to see Bill Bailey next weekend, which should be a riot. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
How sad. One of my fave authors, Iain Banks has passed away. He wrote such optimistic books. Everybody would be better off if they read at least some of them. Religious or not, God bless him. What a fantastic contributor to modern life.
Sad news. I've read a few of his books in recent years, & there are a few I still want to get.
Whilst I struggle a bit more with the culture novels (though player of games was ace!), I've really enjoyed some of his non-sci-fi stuff. Dead Air in particular was a great read. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Ahhh - bless. What is he going to go about the stone/ whatever it is? Is it still in there?
Dinner chez Nikkster: turkey stir fry (aka all of the vegetables lurking in the fridge, no rice or noodles so suitable for fast days) which included chard. I've never cooked chard before, but it was too cheap to turn down. I've got three more portions boxed up for meals during the week, so its a good job it turned out ok!
We cleaned it out, didn't identify anything but he says it feels 'clean'.0 -
Garden....noted baby tomatos today....woohoo! Also, baby Bramleys, the baby pears, baby other apples. Figs coming along well, alpine strawbs, currants doing fab... They love it here.0

This is, and should be a cautionary tale.
I was just noticing his tennis ball size swelling and remarking on the bruise forming and dh, in his sincerity and childlike ness said ' its fabulous because I've never been shot before'. His approach and determination to see the positive and exciting is tremendous, he also doesn't want me to feel guilty (I felt bad yesterday). My family joke his catchphrase is ' that's amazing!' Ad he genuinely feels like that. He's so awesome.
Gush, gush, gush.
Oh poor fir. DH works in health and safety. When I got a flymo with a metal scything blade he bought me a pair of safety goggles and asked me to mow the lawn wearing them. I think it is because he loves me and doesn't want me to lose an eye, but I did politely decline on the grounds I'd appear so pathetic that the neighbours would be queuing up to give me a wedgie. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Chicken.
My mowing outfit is often a strapless maxi dress with roses all over it, sunglasses, muckers, a hat and big noise reducing earphones to top it off. Yesterday it was shorts, vest and flip flops (health and saftey night mares) sunglasses and the headphones. The headphones are bright orange.
Often I have to sit on a towel......embarrassing, but its not for an embarrassing reason,...the PVC seat gets hot if you park it in the sun and sticks to the skin of you r legs (not something you'd notice in appropriate safety wear) so people are probably eying me up with extreme suspicion as I cut the grass. I have MORE grass to cut in the morning.....hoping it will be a shorts day again. Then I am hoping to spend the afternoon doing all the things the hospital will really care about.....bikini line, eyelash dying (or trying, having problems with that ATM) and nails. (Mine are all odd lengths and very untidy ATM) and washing something to wear which I can slip on quickly and do a runner in.
My feet are really swollen, and I am wondering how fast I can leg it in flip flops anyway :rotfl:0 -
Just enjoying a late supper of watermelon feta and mint salad. It is very nice. Just been reading about prefabs here in London being demolished. Visited one when I was a kid. Couldn't see why anyone would look down on one. They seemed like TARDISes with loads of rooms and doors everywhere. Made out of asbestos though I don't know if it's the dangerous type.
Didn't realise they were built around back-to-back fireplace kitchen/airing cupboard/bathroom so there was one main plumbing/mains connection so the whole place could be contructed in a day. Lasted 40 years instead of 10 some of them. I know that Israel and the Eastern bloc made good use of them. In a country as short of housing as we are currently, it's good to know we once solved problems instead of causing them.;)
Any other NPs ever been inside one/lived in one? What did you think of them?
Been inside a few. In Wolverhampton there's a big road where there were loads. For years they talked of taking them down. None of the families wanted to move out. They replaced them with bungalows, replicating the layout.
Very spacious!
Bushbury still has a lot.
In the midlands, during the war they were everywhere - even built them on traffic islands where space allowed. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
