...I think only PN picked up on my hints about my real b'day (extra slice of cake for you, PN)
No cake for me.... makes you fat you know. Have more quiche..... obviously no calories in a quiche as it's near the salad stuff in supermarkets so must be good for you0 -

We rented a cottage in the Cotswolds with then last time in a little village with a few pubs and they loved that, something similarly Olde Englishe Villagee would be good but needs to be not too far from either Colchester or London (as OH's brother lives in Colchester). Any suggestions?
No idea if it's grot or not though0 -
Is that fasting for 2 days per wk one?
I have to say that I am a big non believer in diets of all types.
My top tip would be no sugar at all...ever...not in anything.
No processed anything esp items with things in that sound like something from your lab (Glutamate, e numbers etc etc.
Don't bother with 'health' cereals/products, just get some some smart price oats, seeds from h+b and mix with a few nuts.
No corn starch/syrup/modified corn starch etc and no hydrogenated fats.
I eat a lot of fat but it's the good quality stuff like organic pork crackling or olive oli, avocados. I do eat a lot of dairy as well but try to avoid the non organic supermarket stuff whenever possible...
only get properly proven bread so don't eat modern bread as has double the yeast in it.
then move as much as you can ...like walk wherever possib;le, use stairs, swim if you have time, run a bit, dance class for fun.
....and I know PN is going to say it costs more but it's actually cheaper as you can hardly buy anything at all from a normal supermarket ....and go raw for 50% of your intake
ETA...this means you just eat what you like when hungry and as much as you like........ all that's left is stuff you'd only normally eat if it were bunged in a curry, with chips.

Southwold! I've wanted to go to Southwold for ages - Iris Murdoch country. Not far from Britten country. It sounds terribly genteel. Go to Southwold and report back, please! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

That's why McD's is up that pedestrian alley with the discrete sign.0 -

Facts are: [1] Wars create jobs [2] Wars make rich people richer.
Arranging wars could be the rich people's equivalent of a football match or friendly darts match.
Edit: I should say, of point [2] - if you've got a war, you need guns, so the rich people make/sell the guns and the Govt borrow money to pay them to do that ..... and the little people pay back the loans for the next 200 years. Thus transferring money from little people to the rich, without the word "banker" being mentioned.0 -
Some of the other deaths make interesting reading - Decline, Mortfication Bowells?
Lots of Fever, and then Measles took over 20 children in 1819.
Horrible era.
I've been 'researching' in the google sense .... a woman who poisoned her husband to be with her lover, but got caught out. Didn't expect to have him dug up a few days after she'd buried him.0 -

We also inherited a few 'farm cats' when we moved here.
I just checked dh's page on website and its not updated to new area of law. I wonder why? Anyway, I had better take my lead from that and stay stchum on open forum.
I'd love to have cats now that we have a "garden" in estate agent speak, but OH isn't keen. Sadly, he didn't think of the "can't say no to a man with a kitten" idea.CKhalvashi wrote: »I'm in Rome at the moment, and am only staying in a 5*, as it's cheaper than the 4* next door.

OH and Isaac are in Rome, too. They went yesterday - it's Isaac's half-term, and OH's case for the latter part of this week settled, so off they went at 12 hours' notice. It was ...and I got a load of happy b's then too....just spending my gifts this week on the luxe mini break....It's been fab though have a had a factory problem that I had to sort out inbetween circuits class and massage.
I'll probably struggle to keep that weed free too....maybe I should just place old carpet on it like NDG's dad when I don't have time.
Even with the crisis, sounds like a nice break.
My Dad says he adores putting carpet on the garden, because it feels gloriously decadent.I know that area. It must have been quite tough in the winter as the roads are so steep you'd struggle to get in or out of the village if the snow turned to ice .
Yup - it was always significantly colder at my Granny's house than in ours in Blackheath....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
