There is a type of doorbell that, when pushed, rings your mobile phone. It's intended as a security device as people ringing don't know you're not in the house because you answer your phone and speak to them through the speaker at the door.

Just another thing to chuck into the mix of possibles :)

I think there's a switch to make it switch from phone to just making a ding dong sound in the house.

When I'd been staying at my mum's a neighbour said she'd be over to let me know when I could go to hers for coffee (runs a B&B, so can't know until the last minute in case she gets a last minute booking/somebody at her door). She never came.

About a week later, bumped into her and she said she'd been .... and then I/we realised that the doorbell didn't always work. I was at such a low ebb I was distraught that mum/dad could have missed postmen/people.... of course, the reality is that nobody ever visited them so they missed nothing except doorstep sellers and the drunk woman up the road that I discovered was emotionally blackmailing money from dad for fags/booze.

I was doing some research earlier and found a fascinating burials record that it'd be neat if one could just follow up/research and get an instant answer to. It was a simple one liner of a burial: date, name, age, location. Odd thing was their location had been "poor house" and then, in brackets it simply said "Poor woman murdered by a maniac". http://west-penwith.org.uk/paulbur1.htm

Wonder how she got there and what the full story was.

Actually, I've got to that point in my life that I'd prefer to get a nice concrete patio "garden", with a few flower pots, and ***** the gardening.

But maybe it is the ant attacks that are making me feel that way:D

I have to say that one of the selling points of Margate was no gardden at all...just a stone yard out back. The front has original tiled pathway and a space for a few plants ...maybe 12'' x 48'' bed . I'll probably struggle to keep that weed free too....maybe I should just place old carpet on it like NDG's dad when I don't have time.
If we all buy her cake..... she'll get large and explode. If she buys cake, we're polite and all have a little piece and nobody gets fat :)

    :rotfl::rotfl:ha de ha PN :A

I think I have tightened up my belly this week and I feel quite energised. I could get so into this narcisstic-stylee life of 'My body is my temple' ....but really don't have the time :)

Ah ha! Don't worry, I'm not a stalker (honest)... Just remembered it was between mine and my mum's, and I think the day before an old school friend's. Sometimes these things just stick in your mind.

Hope the factory problem is all sorted.

I weighed myself this week, and found I've just (literally just) dipped underneath a 'milestone' weight. Can't think when the last time I would have been this side of that particular line, but it must have been quite a while ago. Slow and steady, but at least its creeping down.
Bit of a stressful end to today though, so I've had 2 gin and tonics, 1/3 of a quiche and some dim sum on top of my fasting allocation. Oops.

Edit: Does that mean I get a second NP birthday too? I wasn't very obvious, but I think only PN picked up on my hints about my real b'day (extra slice of cake for you, PN) :)

Need to find somewhere to take the (effectively) in laws in July as they are popping over. We rented a cottage in the Cotswolds with then last time in a little village with a few pubs and they loved that, something similarly Olde Englishe Villagee would be good but needs to be not too far from either Colchester or London (as OH's brother lives in Colchester). Any suggestions?

Is that fasting for 2 days per wk one?

I have to say that I am a big non believer in diets of all types.

My top tip would be no sugar at all...ever...not in anything.

No processed anything esp items with things in that sound like something from your lab (Glutamate, e numbers etc etc.
Don't bother with 'health' cereals/products, just get some some smart price oats, seeds from h+b and mix with a few nuts.

No corn starch/syrup/modified corn starch etc and no hydrogenated fats.

I eat a lot of fat but it's the good quality stuff like organic pork crackling or olive oli, avocados. I do eat a lot of dairy as well but try to avoid the non organic supermarket stuff whenever possible...

only get properly proven bread so don't eat modern bread as has double the yeast in it.
then move as much as you can ...like walk wherever possib;le, use stairs, swim if you have time, run a bit, dance class for fun.

....and I know PN is going to say it costs more but it's actually cheaper as you can hardly buy anything at all from a normal supermarket ....and go raw for 50% of your intake
ETA...this means you just eat what you like when hungry and as much as you like....

Thanks missk :) I think the last time I lost any weight was about 10 years ago - I spent 2 weeks eating pretty much only salad, and swimming every day. I surprisingly didn't manage to keep that up when Uni term started. I expect I put it all back on and more in less time than it took to loose it.

I think the most noticeable places I have lost weight are my face, back and wrists (my watch is definitely looser). I've taken my work trousers in at the back - which reminds me, I should try the next size down again. Never know, they might now fit.

Strange day indeed. Things are getting a little 'tense' at work, everyone seems to have a very stretching workload, and perhaps is in need of summer hols. I'm just happy to still be there :)
