Where did they go to? El bulli? :D
    .
Er ... Spain. So wherever a plane could land.... knowing it was Spain was all the detail I could absorb.

Dh, as student in Oxford, fancied cheese late at night. So he got out of bed and went to France. Had lots of cheese for breakfast, came back for afternoon lecture. He used to do the cheese run at least once a year I think. Sometimes dragging friends with him.
As you do ..... I'd be off to Morrisons :)

From London it's nearer/quicker/cheaper to get to Paris than Cornwall.

Yep, definitely. From where I am I still feel Paris is easier than Cornwall. Or, Exeter even really. Yeah, ok, and Taunton. I'd say my westward approach to 'ease' ends at about chard.:D

The Channel tunnels just over half an hour from me. I regularly used to hop on it, drive to the Hypermarket, do my shopping and come home - all in the same afternoon.

Have spent large portions of today pre-weeding in the garden (it is what happens when your weeds are so large you can't even see the proper plants. This year has been a killer for gardening).

Is anyone else having a nightmare gardening year? Can't only be us.

Weeds appear to be really going for it this year.
Pretty much everything I've planted is late, or very slow. Usually by now I've repotted the toms a couple of times - not so this year.

My carrots appear to be doing ok.

Still yet to eat any lettuce I've grown - that too is growing very slowly. Indeed only the past week or so has seen anything "kick in" a bit.

The ginger is doing nothing at all - nothing is showing.

The only thing that appears to be ok is the onions?
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

No idea what bog standard 5* is - not stepped over the threshold of a 5* even in error. I have stepped into a 3* hotel probably a couple of times in my life.... but no idea what star ratings mean. Although, actually, there are lots of systems that mean different things, but I know any 5 has to be posh :)

If I were going, I'd be staying at something like: The Camel's Mattress.

    :)

I'm in Rome at the moment, and am only staying in a 5*, as it's cheaper than the 4* next door.

Star level isn't really important, but it's about 'poshness' to an extent.

Many of the hotels I stayed in on school trips when teaching were 3*, and we only had a problem with one of these, as we'd stayed there two years before, and then when we returned, it was under new management that had concreted the wall to the rooms we stayed in, meaning the worst hotel I ever stayed in!
