I've been away for a week, and you've posted over 1000 times. Ummm, possibly well done! :)

    Anything important happened?

Red condoms, camp vampires, ladies with dresses on fire. Misskool has a surgery date, lemonjelly has seen lots more live stuff, Michaels saved some money on shopping but I think his wife should start an ironing business. The price of fish, and whether we like it or not. Generally nice people in greater herts do not like fresh tuna I think. Um.......what else?

I don't have a ying / yang theory of life. Sometimes, s@@t just happens without anything to balance it out. Plus, no one promised life would be fair.

I think luck is the great unknown in life. It can bring the legs out from giants, and give Lilluputians a magin growth hormone,

But I am thinking of expanding on my theory some what. I think maybe the good luck often (not always) requires more input where as the rubbish can be self inflicted or added to but some will find us whatever we do.

I've generally held a theory that there is an element of balance in life, a kind of yin & yang, where a person can only have so much good stuff, and there has to be some bad stuff to give balance. In example, when I was having a really bad time with my last employer, stuff outside work (playing golf, and also playing bowls) was going really well. I couldn't put my finger on why (I did kinda wonder whether I welcomed the distraction from immense stress & immersed myself in the hobby activity, but I couldn't put a foot wrong in either).

This year seems different. Work isn't great, though not as bad as previous experiences. Haven't played golf yet this year. Have been playing bowls, and despite not playing badly, I don't appear able to buy a win at the moment. Haven't won a game in 2 seperate leagues for over a month. Can't put my finger on why.

    I'm really confused.

Lemon jelly, the huge luck you are not accounting for is your very sweet disposition. People cannot buy, or really work on becoming as sweet as you are.

Well, you don't have leftovers because you cook the way you describe. My dad, OTOH, who also lives alone, always has loads of little pots in his fridge with little bits of leftover this and that. So not everyone's the same. In contrast, I cook for the kids and me, and either we eat it all, or I freeze individual portions, so I almost never create things out of leftovers like my dad does. Sometimes I put leftovers in the fridge with the vague intention of using them up later, but I almost always forget about them and find them in the fridge when it's too late to do anything with them except chuck them. I am not very organised about food, I'm afraid. :o

I am really struggling to be as organised as usual. Right now I have the makings for that lasagne I mentioned bubbling away and a white sauce made. In a bit I will chuck it together and let it cool before refrigerating for to or row might. I have thought after that I might get the base of the shepherdess pie for Sunday made too. I have a few things I can make on Monday.

This sort of heavy Unexciting food like pub grub over a wholE weekend is my idea of depressing menu planning. I just have little steam.

I did buy the stuff for kedgeree. But tonight I think I will open a bottle of red wine, dish up some za'tar and decent olive oil and throw some pita breads. I have some homous and crudit!s they can have too. Hopefully the bread and the red wine will make it feel a warmer meal than it is! (Actually I plan to roast a couple of peaches with blueberries and almonds too, that'll be hot. Maybe with some peach snapps cream.)

I am also trying to decide something invigorating to do with pinky vodka this weekend.

I appear to have brought an AA truck back into work

Land Rover have fitted the electronic device that starts OH's car, underneath a drainage pipe at the back of the engine cover, leaving me stranded in the rain, with no wallet, and now some very wet documents.

Our fleet manager has got in into the warehouse, sprayed it with some water repellent, and found a bit of plastic that goes over the said device and clips shut, and guess what? It starts and drives! What an absolutely stupid piece of design!

Ah CK, I feel for you. We had a Merc Sprinter on a 53 plate a while back. On the pasenger side footwell, it was very easy and unknowingly so, to catch a piece of wiring and pull the 'plug' end out, resulting in a dead sprinter. (Our vehicles are usually double-manned). Fearing something terminal, we wanted to bring it home when it broke down near Inverness, at a cost of nearly a grand. Our lovely merc fitter wandered in, looked at it for about 2 minutes, then plugged said wiring back in...... and :o

I have to say that all my bad luck came in buckets last year, work was not great, Mr Bugs was not well, nothing seemed to flow properly.

This year, everything seems sunnier, Mr Bugs is being cared for, work is ticking along as nicely as anything with wheels and an engine can, social life looking good. Health wise I've lost about half a stone without trying over 6 months. Love life is dull for obvious reasons, but I have a mystery card sender somewhere out there - that could be good or bad???

Told you lemon that Derren was good! I was going to see Julian Clary,b ut both dates in Salford and Liverpool, I had other things planned.

It's freezing here, too. I was distinctly chilly in the High Court this morning, but wigs and gowns have their advantages, they are nice and cosy.

But outside it's wellying down. I'm going to go and hurl some stuff in a bag for our weekend with my parents, better concentrate on the woolies, I think!
