I do like smoked fish. In fact someone once said if you had to impress a foreigner with a genuine great native bit of British cooking, kippers or smokies would fit the bill nicely!:beer:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

We're lucky enough to buy fresh fish at wholesale rates (A fishmonger comes into the town, twice a week), but even that is getting more expensive now.
1kg of Salmon is now £16 (£14 to him, on the Norfolk coast), and cod, haddock etc is getting so stupidly priced we're thinking of stopping serving it altogether.
I remember, a few months back, being able to get a side of salmon from the same guy for about £12 (same profit for him, he's always been honest about this), so something will have to give.
I prefer his to Tescos, too!

One of the advantages of growing up in rural, coastal, Scotland is that you know both the lads who end up as fishermen or ghillies, and also those who end up working in the distilleries.
From there it's a simple matter of figuring out a barter system....:D“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Home networks ... grrr....
Last week I managed to get my laptop and my PC to transfer files between them via the BTHub. Just spent half an hour trying to work out how I managed to achieve that .... with no joy.
Edit: Got it, finally.0 -

That sounds heavenly. Yep. Delicious. I feel quite hard done by with my hot climes childhood with wonderful fish and lobsters that come the 'real' ' size not like the overgrown crayfish here:D
Mind you, I did not like turtle.0 -

There is in London. The place is packed full of world-class museums, exhibitions and galleries, most of which are free....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I miss London. Sydney doesn't compare on that level.
Still the crime rate is lower and the weather's better but the Aussies are such a bunch of bloody philistines.0
