Nikkster said the other day I sounded like a nice friend.
My friend who is staying with me has 3 sets of medication. One are strong stuff. Another are appetite (I think). He was unable to find the 3rd lot last night - put them down & forgot where. So I'm taking the place apart, & ask what they're for.
They're my memory pilss he says, straightfaced...
I roll about laughing.
Am I such a good friend now? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Yes. Laughter and a sense of the ridiculousness of self is especially important in ill health and recovery, of all sorts.
Did you find them?0 -

Lunch today was: half a baguette, mature cheddar, sandwich pickle. Cost = 35p. That'll be tea too as when I bake baguettes, it's two, then cut in half, hence four meals.
PN, I despair about your eating. You grew up in the country, so I know you've seen veg. I don't want to startle you too much, but have you considered eating some veg., yourself?
For example, buy a cucumber for around 60p, slice 1/4 of it very finely and have that in your baguette instead of the cheese and pickle. Proper rich people's food, but it's no more expensive! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I'd heard that an old friend (well, more of an acquaintance) was very ill, so I dropped in to say hello. The wife and daughter said he was too ill to see anyone. Basically, they'd already started grieving for his passing away.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

If I buy a cucumber, I'll have to find a way to eat it all.... and I already have a cut down shopping list because everything has to be eaten before it goes off.
1/4 of a cucumber in one baguette? Blimey, you'd eat for England. I'd probably put 1/8th of half a cucumber in a baguette or sandwich.0 -

Seriously? I can eat half a cucumber by myself! I love cucumber, its healthy and crunchy and summery. On fact, because I don't eat bread often I could probably much on the best part of s cucumber and feel good.
They also last well in the fridge, Cucumber and celery are sort of staples in my fridge. Celery is amazing stuff.
Radishes too. All the above will last well over a week in the fridge.0 -

Bread is the basis of most of what I eat because it's easy.
I've had celery in the past, hated it, it's bitter ... and that's when it looks OK...
I love veggies, but dislike the steam/smell they create when cooking (even in a microwave), so that's why, for now, I don't eat many of them - it'd get stinky.0
