Many thanks for your kind words they certainly help us to cope. The decision was made due to the fact that Tasha had already had two operations over the space of just over three years for the growth of tumours and although these were near the surface she got through them ok, but this one was beside her lungs and would have given her very grave suffering. The vet advised against the operation.
He is a good vet and has looked after seven cats and two of our dogs in the past seventeen years that we have been in this area. God Bless xx
Bertie
I'm so sorry about Tasha. I know when it was Avatar-Dog, I was distraught at the memory of him trotting so happily into the vet's consulting room. He was deeply suspicious of the needle when they put it in his leg, but I soothed him and told him it was all OK, so he calmed down, and then the vet did the deed. I felt so guilty that I had told him it was OK when it wasn't, and told my dad I felt dreadful because Avatar-Dog had trusted me and I had deceived him. But my dad said no. He said Avatar-Dog had trusted me to look after him and not to let him suffer, and that I had done what he was trusting me for. I found it so very comforting at the time, so I am sharing the story in case it helps you too.Think it may take me a while to catch up.....
Youngest's birthday today and he is off school ill, he came down with a horrible cold Thursday evening and has been poorly ever since, so it will be a muted birthday for him (not that he cares, he doesn't 'get' what is so special about it all)
I am also in full job hunting mode now, the boys care needs have (I think), now reduced to a level where work is possible on a part time basis (my idea of part time is 16-25 hours a week) plus they do need to become more independent as uni is only 2 years away for middle son and 3 years away for youngest son, so it would be good preparation for it.
Another side effect has been that I have been able to get a couple of hours out without the boys socially last week....what a great feeling that was!
Hope Youngest is better soon.
16-25 hours a week is a great level of p/t. That's what I do. I find it gives me enough hours in work to feel connected to the workplace and not a total outsider or lightweight, while not being so overwhelming as to make my domestic and parenting responsibilities impossible. Hope you find something appropriate soon.
Hooray for the social time without boys. Here's to more of it soon. :beer:lostinrates wrote: »So, my eye is almost back to normal, but now my skin is going bananas. It's all dry and cracked, all over my face. My mother thinks its because I am too cold.
Old girl's infection is back today too, so I think I will have to call tomorrow vet for her to arrange her PTS.. It's been putting off the inevitable for a while. I might ask of we could reasonably try another course of antibiotics, but not really sure what the point is now. If only she weren't so perky it would be an easier decision.
LIR, you really are not healthy enough to be living in that ice-box of a house. How are you getting on with pursuing the incompetent boiler people legally? Can you install large numbers of electric heaters for the sake of your health and get the boiler people to pay for the exorbitant electricity bills to ensure that you aren't putting your health further at risk? Heck, I'll contribute to your electric bill myself if it keeps you well.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Whatever else you do, do NOT buy a house in a flood zone. I have friends (several of them) who were out of their houses for months with floods, and now can't sell and won't be able to sell for years until people have forgotten about the flooding (and that's only if it doesn't do it again any time soon). Two negatives on my new job hunting push already, bums! Who the blooming hell is going to take me on when a minimum wage retail job who are not particularly fussy about who they have says no?
I don't think that's the way to think about it. A minimum wage retail job can be done by just about anybody, so they will want to pick somebody uncomplicated, which you aren't. You're much more likely to get a skilled job where they decide that your skills and abilities are valuable enough to make it worth taking on somebody with your domestic responsibilities. So aim high!lostinrates wrote: »Dh trusts me.. I would not consider not telling him. It's a negligee, so there is some sizing room, not a a bra. (Phew). I haven't tried it on, but my guess it will fit....just.
It's in one of my vary favourite colours. Which is thoughtful. Just maybe a bit too thoughtful. My imagination is creating normalising scenarios and this is the one I like best:
Friend is buying underwear for some girl and sees this and thinks, oh, lir likes that colour I'll get that for her.
Edit: even odder, I have had a look and its neither this season nor in the outlet of the la perla website. Hmmm.
Oh well, be grateful for gifts I guess. My la perla buy of choice might have been this set though http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/esmagazine/trends-mental-oriental-8495478.html?action=gallery&ino=5
Maybe he bought it last year for some woman he was going out with at the time, and then split up with her before the birthday or other event that he bought it for. So he found himself left in possession of a brand new item that he wouldn't want to wear himself (;)) and cast about in his mind for a lady of his acquaintance who was both the right size for the garment and of an open-minded attitude with a trusting husband.
PS I too would not consider not telling my partner if I was in LIR's situation.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Interesting that you can find a mortgage lender prepared to lend on a 7 year tenancy agreement. I thought that lender's got concerned with anything over a year.
It's because the mortgage is in a Ltd company name, and is therefore a 15yr Commercial mortgage, instead of a 25yr BTL one. It's more tax-efficient to do it like this.

Well clutch and flywheel I got the parts to save £150, fitting was 335 but on top were springs and suspension top mounts that somehow broke between clutch failing and car getting to garage plus 2 tyres (broken spring) went into 1, but both fronts at legal min already plus 200 for 10 days car hire. The other bit I can't understand is Fiat replaced clutch under warranty 18 months 12k miles ago
We budget 900pa for servicing MOT on both cars which I thought was generous but already spent a couple of hundred on suspension bits this year and will need timing belt next year before anything breaks.
Just saw morethan(?) ad in St AlbansI think....0 -

Seems odd - didn't make short list but can reapply - either you have all the 'must haves' or you don't, makes no sense to me.
But then if you are having difficualties where you are then maybe looking elsewhere is worthwhile, I suspect most places, even if they are in the wrong, will not thank whoever demonstrates it to them
Good luck with whatever transpires, the NP have your back.

Just reading about the Cypriot banking issues.
The banks in Cyprus are re-opened, but with temporary restrictions on both cash and foreign transfers, to be reviewed after a week.

PN stayed in one but there were cows in the field. You have sold and arranged to move everso quickly.:)

We planned over a year ago to put the Bungalow onto the market and my OH and I have worked to bring it up to a pristine condition that gave any interested party the knowledge that the owners cared and loved their home. So we think that this certainly helped.
Yesterday we signed contracts for the property to be vacated on the 8th April. So we have to get moving to meet that date.
Today SB comes home to finish packing her chattles into boxes and then we will try and take it to Portsmouth today. I will not be on the NP Forum as much as you will understand.
Have a lovely Easter everyone and enjoy, weather here this morning is beautiful sunshine with a temperature of almost 2C.:easter_os0
