And how about coffee?
I drink soup in the mornings; needless to say, I think several Swedes found it strange when I took a bag of Heinz tins into the hotel with me.
I'm also using the microwave in the management office (usually a conference room) to heat it, but I've always done this. I have foregone the toast with this, though!💙💛 💔0 -

Oooh, that depends which Italian hotel, though. There are some which do really good breakfasts.
I've always found the French hotels to be less good at breakfasts than the Italian ones.0 -
I generally have a cereal and tea for breakfast, then one coffee for elevenses, then it becomes more random and more fattening as the day wears on.
I am not a breakfast person but now have to have it along with a handful of pills:(
The morning tablet thing makes me queasy. The best way of avoiding this is to take mornings slowly, sit quietly in the sitting room with a bowl of rice crispies with pretend sugar on and a mug of mint tea. Chuck the tablets into the rice crispies and eat a spoonful with a pill in it. Trying to rush and just taking tablets quickly means it is normal for me to throw up in the kitchen sink:eek:
On the plus side the slow morning means I get to read the news online and come on here sometimes. I do miss being 'me' though as I was never like this but have been for a long time now.
At work no one usually expects me in before 9.30 so I can have a slow start. If I am in earlier than that I take tablets with me and try to have them at a convenient point along with food. Yesterday a kind colleague donated their banana as I had been having a very queasy morning and just could not manage eating/pills before leaving home .0 -

Oh yes! I must say, I agree with that one!
We use a hotel in Central Rome, and another in Milan regularly for work, and both do a lovely breakfast!💙💛 💔0 -

Italians themselves aren't big on breakfast. Biscuits dipped in cappuccino isn't the greatest start to the day. Where its good its crazy good (crassants filled with hazelnut pair pistachio cream are insanely wonderful). And the 'best' tend to offer what they think of as 'American breakfast'. Which could well be what we think of as continental, or could be..everything you imagine.
The best short cut to a decent breakfast, is to look for somewhere offering 'American breakfast' which is pretty darn comprehensive.
My favourite thing to have is fruit, especially prunes, to which I am very partial. The only problem is, I don't need to be partial to prunes IYSWIM, and public loos are as good as the normal Italian breakfast!0 -

Haven;t been there for about 4 years but I doubt it's gone down in the meantime.
(You have to spin round to see the breakfast buffet & not the best photo but gives you an idea of the amount/range)0 -

Certainly not me! There's only one entrant in the last 10 years that I'd have sent, that the UK ended up sending.
What the Beeb need to do, is team up with an independent record label who are happy to pay something back in exchange for giving a contract on decent terms for the winning artist; I think is we were to send some fresh talent, it would have the 'Loreen effect', in that this was her 3rd single, and therefore it's a new career for her.
No, I'm not nominating myself here, but it seems a much better idea than sending someone known, to do badly.💙💛 💔0 -

We don't normally get down as far as Rome but have stayed at one or two in Milan. They've both been pretty good.0 -

I cannot see it because its a flash site.. Is it Milan? Which hotel?
I know which hotel breakfast of the ones I've had ion Milan is my favourite (best prunes and a view of madonina) but I want to try a particular hotel there one day, I have never been there. Rome dh has stayed in hotels for work (but actually the Rome office has, incredibly, a Michelin starred chef! People tend to eat in the office a lot!) . When I have been we have stayed with friends, yep, I am pretty sure I have never stayed in a hotel in Rome.0 -
I should also say I hate most Italian milk and yoghurt, the more alpine the worse I find it.0
