I mostly skip breakfast. I know that the nutritionists say I shouldn't, but it seems to work for me. I generally don't exercise a lot in the mornings. If I were digging ditches or something like that, I expect that my approach would be different. As it is, I quite often go for a 5 mile walk without having eaten anything and feel absolutely fine, although I carry glucose as a precaution.

I am diabetic (self-inflicted, type 2), and if I have breakfast I'll have to take my medication. Then, it's far harder to balance exercise against carbs, and I'm quite prone to having a hypo. If I don't take either the meds or breakfast, my blood sugar stays at a respectable 5.0-5.3 pretty much regardless of what exercise I take.

Edit: To give an idea, I have black coffee in the morning, and I don't count the carbs in that, but I gave up on the milk! There is of course a terrible conflict when it comes to B&B deals.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

We don't eat much meat at all now. Not that we're vegetarian. We just tend to prefer other sorts of meals.

Same here. Although we do have what, I am sure, others would regard as tiny portions of chicken and fish.

My doctor asked me when I last ate red meat, and I had to think quite hard before coming up with a date 6 months earlier. If I were asked now, it would be more like a year.

We only changed to our present eating routine about 8 years ago. We found that eating a large meal in the evening had started to make us uncomfortable.

As you say, gdp, they maintain that our metabolism works hardest in the mornings so we burn more off, I guess. Anyway, it definitely worked on the weight loss front.

If we eat a 'decent' breakfast, as our main meal, I cannot get anything done. Digestion requires energy from me :o. I don't like to stop I the middle of the day, so we eat supper.

I have been having my home mixed muesli this week though, with fruit juice and the results are so far good! But I am hungry afterwards, but not before it.:o

Edit: one f the fundamental rules of feeling horses ( there are a few) is feed according to work done. I find this also pretty good for me, thou with dh I would balance feeding for work done with feeding for energy to do work.

I can't start doing any 'exercise' until breakfast has gone down a bit so I know what you mean.
It would also be hard for people working during the day to eat at the hours we eat. As we're both here it works.
A large meal in the evening didn't get burned off & often left us with, if not exactly indigestion, then an uncomfortable feeling. We can do it once in a while but we then have to eat less than we would if we were dining early or, alternatively, move around a great deal more/go to bed even later :rotfl:
This may be why so many people swap to having their main meal during the day as they get older?

I don't really feel hungry at breakfast time but try and force down some toast because as soon as I sit at my desk at work I feel starving and eat all my snacks (apples, satsuma, mini-cheddars, chocolate bar) then feel drowsy....the weekend I might have one slice of toast about 11 and then don't need anything more until lunch time.

G which week/weeks are you in Blighty?
    I think....

Leave here 25th June, arrive back 16 July I think (maybe I'm a day out).

I'm trying to tie together some business meetings in London for 3rd or 4th July at the moment and thought a meet-up after that could work. I should be over the jet lag by that point so up for a couple of beers!

Meetings will be in St James or The City (perhaps both).
