    I've been Money Tipped!
You could start a sideline business - whittling sticks into canes. You can do that sitting down .... and affix locally-sourced carved tops for them from artisan wood turners, metalsmiths and resin casters. And the chippy-bits/offcuts.... you can use for fuel or sell as garden mulch/weed stopper stuff :)

They sell beautiful wooden sticks in one of my local pubs. The one I want is see through lucite, twisted like, well a twist.:D

Random Question: Logs beside a woodburner.

Just seen a house programme on the telly - and they'd opened up a fireplace and shoved a woodburner in the hole. On each side of the fire were 3 stacked logs. At least one log on each side of the fire was leaning against the log burner.

    Isn't that a fire risk?

We do this. Used to stack them so they were on the top too..that was too risky.

    Exciting news, DS1 has a paid internship.:T

    I am relieved and delighted.

Today we went work clothes shopping, which could be the last time that my credit card gets used on his clothes!

    Excellent..fingers crossed.

Every night, about the same time (it's just done it), my gas boiler clicks and makes a whirring noise .... for about a minute. Is this likely to be some built-in system that just turns over the pump so it doesn't get stuck in the weeks/months it's not used? Obviously I'm not using the heating at the moment, so it's noticeable when it suddenly does this click/whirr daily (just once a day; boiler's not trying to fire up at all, it just does one click and a whirr). Make = Worcester.

It has other benefits. He might bounce back later and for him spreading his wings now might be just the right thing. Huge congratulations to him, and to you!

Big congratulations from me too :)

I am proof that moving out isn't necessarily permanent :) Even after 12 years!

The boiler here is in my room (yes, I do have a CO detector), and it definitely makes random noises when it seems like it should be quiet (the heating has been off for a month or so, and I can hear if a tap/ shower is being used). I'm not sure whether it happens at the same time every day though. Or what make it is.

Had more gas engineers than you can shake a stick at since I moved in.... for various reasons. [1] the gas check [2] an annual service [3] new connection installed outside [4] new meter put onto new connection.
