What I meant was each extra £1k on purchase price = £1k less profit. Aiming for a gross profit of about 30% of purchase price.

I was in St A today... have never really had a proper potter around before - its lovely. Friend suggested I could commute from there, then we passed an estate agent  Blimmin' heck, you don't get a lot of house for your money round there do you?!

    I've no CO detector :)
Had more gas engineers than you can shake a stick at since I moved in.... for various reasons. [1] the gas check [2] an annual service [3] new connection installed outside [4] new meter put onto new connection.

I'd think it was still worth getting one?

I can't believe how cheap their garages are round that way - cheaper than a lot of other areas of the country.

Today we went work clothes shopping, which could be the last time that my credit card gets used on his clothes!

Damn. I missed a trick when I got my job and needed some proper work clothes!

Did you not know, whilst the rest of the country shivers or freezes it is always 22 degrees, sunny and May here in St A :)

Funnily enough to the refugees from London it is blimmin' heck the prices are cheap!

Put up the reduced to £200 tv tonight so it looks like we are not going to try and rebuy to get it with the 'double the difference' mis-price reduction.
    I think....

Anybody thinking you should buy near London to work further out (like i did years ago) needs their head read.

You'll find better value roomier accomodation right where you are Nikkster. Actually anywhere in your county, even about 15-20 miles south would be great value compared with London/Home Counties. And deffo anywhere north of where you are - even more so.

A house isn't an investment - it should be a great place to live.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    It was certainly glorious today!

Well, it was a partial success. I have made what taste like no added sugar and fat free flapjacks.

I think I'd stick to the porridge, myself.
That's the flaw with businesses ... customers.

My mother used to say teaching was a great job, except for the children.
Random Question: Logs beside a woodburner.

Just seen a house programme on the telly - and they'd opened up a fireplace and shoved a woodburner in the hole. On each side of the fire were 3 stacked logs. At least one log on each side of the fire was leaning against the log burner.

    Isn't that a fire risk?

I'd have thought so, yes. Certainly, it's something my parents are very careful about - as you'd think, it being the point of them, they get very hot indeed.

In the one in my parents' sitting room, there is room either side of the stove to stack logs in the brick inglenook, with a couple of feet between the stack and the side of the stove. That helps them dry out, if they aren't already seasoned.

Well done to DS! What sort of internship is it?
