I need a way that I can still get money owed, as there's quite a long lead time on the type of projects that I work on, but don't want to leave someone the stress of running the company. I don't really know how to arrange that, particularly as there may be nothing specific owing when I die. Any ideas? Everything else is straightforward as I don't have kids. I leave it to my husband and if he's not around then my mum/dad/brother.
I don't know enough about your company viva, so this may not be relevant, but I have left mine to one of my employees, sort of right hand man. No family at all, so it seemed the best idea and keeps everything ticking along as it was for the rest of the staff.0 -
Ok nice peeps, I have a question for you (especially viva).
On Monday I noticed I had a small scab on my scalp which has now turned into a kinda crusty mole. Do I take some time off on Monday to get it checked or is it ok to leave until Saturday?
Thankfully, work updated our sick cover effective 1/4/13 so I get 80% of my income, index linked, until age 65 if I'm sick and unable to work. Hopefully I won't have to use it.
I've got about 2, and have had for several years (nothing to do with my recent illness), and they're both free of anything.
Whether they can be damaging, I'm unaware, however.
Just on a side note, these are my exact words yesterday, and I just want some opinions, please, as I was told I was being unfair..."For UKIP, now that they have some power, the people will discover all too quickly that they do not have the expertise, skills or ability to actually provide the solutions they promised. Actions will speak louder than their empty words!"

I guess it depends on the quality of the candidates they put up.
BNP rarely get voted in twice I believe as the people are so rubbish at what they do. Local politics is mostly about getting stuff done, not so much about ideology.
I looked up the Ransomes women who won 3 seats in Lincolnshire pretty much randomly. 1 is an accounts clerk in Tesco (the mother), one a shop assistant (and 27) and the other daughter (Felicity) I don't know. They seem to talk a pretty good game and have the right attitude as in interviews they talk about fixing things that the council doesn't do well rather than withdrawing from Europe.
So they're probably not that sharp but in all honesty I don't imagine a razor wit is required, more a willingness to get stuck in and good organisational skills.
Time will tell how good they are. I think it's probably no bad thing that UKIP haven't won any councils entirely as it will give them time to learn on the job.0 -

Hi Gen, I can't tell you what to do, sorry, I'm not a medic so that wouldn't be right, but I can relay to you what happened in my case so you can use this as a baseline.
My mole, which was a rare form in terms of appearance but more typical in terms of how it behaved, started after I'd been out in the sun. I'm not a sunbather, but I was on holiday and probably hadn't used enough sunscreen for the heat/sun levels. It started smaller than what I eventually got treated, but started a bit as you described. It was a small crusty scab, actually in my case not much larger than a pinprick. What set it apart though was how much it itched, I kept scratching it and it kept bleeding. Itchy scabby bits are an early sign of skin cancer, but obviously people can have grazes and have scabs that itch, so if that is a symptom, please don't let that get to you too much.
I couldn't get mine seen for a couple of weeks as I was on holiday. When I did get it seen, they said it was nothing. It was only after it carried on growing that I started worrying. I then showed it to an oncologist in another field who also said it was nothing. Then it carried on growing. A year and a half later with this thing now pretty big, I took myself off to a private clinic specialising in moles. That was at 4.45pm. They faxed my docs and at 8.15am the following morning I was being seen by my GP and at 11.00 the following day I was in an NHS hospital having it removed as day surgery.
Moles caught really early are easy to treat, considerably less dangerous and the scarring will be less invasive. My personal view is that leaving it until Saturday would be ok, given that you plan to address it very quickly, though only you can decide that. Also, my comments above relate to melanoma, which is the worst form of skin cancer. I don't know about the other forms - which my Aussie rels have also had - such as Squamous cell and Basal Cell - and how they start. However the quicker any of these things are caught, the better, not only in terms of long term prognosis but also the degree of scarring. It is also entirely likely that even if removal is required, you only need very quick day surgery and occasional outpatient follow up if it proves to be worst case scenario, so don't worry about lots of time off work, that's extremely unusual for an early mole.
Good luck, whatever you decide to do.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Judging by my limited knowledge of skin problems in Oz, I'd get to the front of the queue pronto.
I'd imagine dermatologists there have a huge workload. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Sounds like you didn't wash the peanut butter off your hand before running your hand through your hair.;)

I have what I believe to be the best medical insurance cover in Australia (and it's far from the most expensive). Queuing will not be a problem.vivatifosi wrote: »Hi Gen, I can't tell you what to do, sorry, I'm not a medic so that wouldn't be right, but I can relay to you what happened in my case so you can use this as a baseline.

I'm pretty sure it's a melanoma of some sort, most likely pre-cancerous given that it's so new. It is an absolute classic: new mole, crusty and slightly itchy
It's just that it appeared so fast and so I wondered if anyone had an opinion around that.Sounds like you didn't wash the peanut butter off your hand before running your hand through your hair.;)

That's a good point actually. I am quite worried about it despite there basically being a 0% chance that this will hurt me in any way even if it is a cancer as it's been caught so quickly. Having to work late for a couple of nights in return for peace of mind seems like a good deal.0 -

Whilst I agree with the sentiment of this, MP's usually follow Cllrs into Parliament, and in fact, when a good Lib Dem friend of mine won the first seat in 19-eighty something, he was asked (and reluctantly did) stand for parliament.....twice!
Second time round, he came very close!I looked up the Ransomes women who won 3 seats in Lincolnshire pretty much randomly. 1 is an accounts clerk in Tesco (the mother), one a shop assistant (and 27) and the other daughter (Felicity) I don't know. Right attitude, generally = right for the job. See above, however.Time will tell how good they are. I think it's probably no bad thing that UKIP haven't won any councils entirely as it will give them time to learn on the job.
They've won nothing in Herts at all, and although I'm not happy with the Conservative majority (although Herts NP's opinions may differ), that's life, and there are 2 very good friends of mine and an utter idiot in the town we live!💙💛 💔0 -
Gen, i say go soonest too. Not because i think you should panic about health but because those kiddos and mrs gen need to know you'll always take care of yourself for them.
Meanwhile, I have a lump which I plan to get the doctor to feel when I am in next, I want to mark where it is ( they are, i think there is more than one) with a pen before I go to minimise 'rummaging' time but dh reckons this is probably sectionable.0 -

Stuart Drummond who is the outgoing mayor of Hartlepool has had (i think) three terms after campaigning as H'Angus the Monkey (a football mascot) and pledging free bananas. He learnt on the job and his subsequent re-elections were based on his achievements. hartlepool are doing away with a unitary system now -so not a total endorsement... but not a bad run for giving the man in the street the chance to govern.0
