Took both DKs somewhere today where they washed their hands in a basin with a glass tap a bit like this, but without the shower attachment. Now they are both asking if we can have taps like that at home.

    Huge picture of tap snipped

If you have hard water, you can completely forget about it. Apart from that, how much do they cost, and why do people need a 'wow factor' when washing their hands?

Possibly. However we haven't even moved into the new place yet - we have to commit to it as our tenancy here ends on 22 May, so a bit high risk to start trying to negotiate with the LL now, I'd rather they didn't know we want to move until everything is signed and sealed as otherwise they might S21 us at the first opportunity leaving us in a mess again. In any case off to Scotland for a week tomorrow PM and I should think it will be under offer by the time we get back.

The downstairs is almost exactly what we want although the upstairs looks a bit cramped and I'd rather it cost about £300,000 less....

It's £750k, and you're worried about a couple of months' rent on your flat? And you're interested, but the holiday comes first?

    I'm confused.

Guttering looks dodgy on the streetview picture, bricks look like they may have had some water penetration. Roof on the porch may need attention. Back - side garden is odd shape and needs re-fencing with higher fencing. And those sash windows: dislike. Upstairs is small because it is sitting in the roof space, I always worry that those sort of windows in alcoves have poor quality flat roofs above (and to the side) of them and let the heat escape.

Enjoy your holiday, it will be there when you get back if it is meant to be.

I liked the downstairs (although the more open plan feel would drive me nuts with the boys) but the upstairs most certainly seems very squished, the rooms are tiny!

For that amount round here, you could get an awful lot more for your money....

Don't look at house prices if it's your first visit to Scotland!

I like the house, chewy - not keen on the furniture or the lights, but those aren't thrown in (-:

    £750k here would get you:

    3 bed semi http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-40497815.html
    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-40725008.html

And even at these prices they're advertised as a "lock up and leave" holiday home!

Just a bit more, this would be more my thing: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-36320290.html - although, even still, it doesn't meet all requirements, the features it does have could outweigh my "wants" list, just for this (cheapish) one. although the view's not THAT good (no beach) and the plot is tiny. If I had that much I'd still spend it elsewhere....

Absolutely! I've never known anybody who had a nanny (not even a friend of a friend overhead in the distance). Although I did have a relative who was a (famous) nanny.
