I know a Norlander. She does v. well for herself. 2 bed Barbicam flat, car, £plenty, 'looking after' teens now, 2xholidays with the family each year (Med & Carribean), car and will most likely be given the flat when youngest goes to Uni. Plus she works a second job in the day when the kids are at school.

These days her job is make breakfast, packed lunch and dinner plus pack for holidays.

I guess the quid pro quo is she can't have kids of her own and do the job.

I think the difference is most men would be quite pleased to be oogled by a woman. Most women are basically not pleased. It's a threat.

Good manners mean not doing something that upsets others.

I'm sure that is true however if you wear a low cut top on micro shorts/skirt is it really that much of a surprise that you get looked at? Sorry if this sounds misogynistic and I do honestly try not to look but it is hard not to be curious when things are put on display.

Well, it depends on the person. Obviously there are some women who like to be oogled. This is where experience kicks in. If the person looks like they are uncomfortable then you stop.

Maybe I am wrong but a lot of people wearing that kind of clothing seem to be quite young and inexperienced. They are doing it out of peer pressure to fit in with their group.

I recall working with a lady who was, as you say, very well endowed. I'd just started working there & was doing a promotional event next to her. She was/is a very attractive woman & naturally we started chatting to get to know each other. I can recall the one thing running through my mind whilst talking to her was "don't look down, look her in the eye" as I'm sure she gets the oogling all the time.

Have to say it was hard work!

Since getting to know her better, I learned she does get it all the time & it is a gripe for her. Which is quite a relief!

And quick/easy access to Land's End area .... for visiting mum if/when suddenly things change. e.g. I had to dash there last month to accompany for surgery. Current journey is about 3.5 hours door to door.

I also need to consider options for getting a job that pays more than NMW, so an area where there are a lot of IT-focussed companies.

And I have a budget smaller than would afford your links.

House also needs to have a garage, south facing garden. Utility would be nice. And it must have been built since about 1990 or so as I dislike older houses (fears of the unknown hidden bodge jobs).

    Nowhere's handy for Land's End - that's the whole point of Land's End (-:

That's the thing .... we're all trapped by something/somebody. I don't want to go up North because it's colder there :) And they talk funny.

Where does "the North" begin by your standards, PN? The M4? Growing up in Bristol, I felt that anything further than Birmingham was "North" to me.

Yes, being within reach of elderly parent(s) is a consideration for me too. But then my elderly parent isn't at Land's End. Currently it's about an hour door to door for me.

Can you remind us what your budget is so we can all look for houses for you?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I was thinking about that and generally agree with you, then I started thinking... Well, actually I want mixer taps on all sinks and basins so I can't get get scolded. I also like ones with ceramic discs as they are less likely to need a plumber call out when they start leaking. Oh, and then they can't be pig ugly or stupid. I know some people like them, but I find waterfall taps fundamentally stupid and they look like there was a metal shortage and they couldn't be finished.

    Don't want much, do you?:p

The fact that you made the effort was a relief for her, I'm sure, and is yet another example backing up what we are all trying to tell you - that you are a decent bloke and you shouldn't be removing yourself from the market because there's a shortage of nice guys like you.

Visited Lands End last year. Had a fantastic evening there!

Looking at holidays for this year. Weymouth is looking quite possible...

    It's not an intentional thing!
    You ladies are scary!

actually, in honesty, it is the perceptions in my head that are scary. I know it is illogical, irrational or whatever. It is just the way I am I guess...:o

That's not a very nice thing to say about the 'nice' ladies - however having met a few of them you could be right ;)

Joking aside, talking to women is scary unless you are in a relationship and not looking in which case approaching them is much easier.

I wonder what 'hit' rate the oft mentioned 'slimeballs' have in their scattergun aproach? DW told me the guy on the Fiat service desk kept propositioning her both in the garage and when he happened to pass her in the street but that she didn't fancy him. She hasn't told me about any others so I assume he was the only one she didn't fancy....
    I think....
