went out for another 2.5 hours after lunch, my fingers and toes are slowly getting circulation back again.
I'm sure I was planting stuff out this time last year. But I daren't even sow any seeds at the moment.
Well, you are hardier than me, MissK. Well done!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

On the BBC website winter photos bit they have Brighton beach today and 12 months ago....
Another Avira user, used to use AVG but it got too bloated, I notice Avira keep suggesting I 'upgrade' to a newer version that will protect even more things but I dread the speed hit. However the main issue seems to be the Windows XP (service Pack 3) and all later windows no longer operate comfortably with 1gb of ram needing at least 2gb and lots of older machines don't have 2gb and the old memory costs much more than the new one. I am currently on a 2/3 year old netbook but it came with 1gb and I am debating if it is worth spending the 18 quid to double this (it belongs to my work) or just saving the money for something else. I recently spent similar money doing the same for the kids pc and havre a laptop with an ok processor that would probably be ok with 2gb but apparently the ram is hard to reach and it needs memory that costs 30 quid for 2gb so probably isn't worth it. Perhaps I need to find out how to install linux as I only really use it for browsing.I think....0 -
Bertie, so sorry to hear about Tash. It's a difficult decision to make, you can only do your best for them through their lives, and right up to the end and you did

Many thanks for your kind words they certainly help us to cope. The decision was made due to the fact that Tasha had already had two operations over the space of just over three years for the growth of tumours and although these were near the surface she got through them ok, but this one was beside her lungs and would have given her very grave suffering. The vet advised against the operation.
He is a good vet and has looked after seven cats and two of our dogs in the past seventeen years that we have been in this area. God Bless xx0 -
Well, our boiler is still on but just cannot cope with the cold, the heat loss from the rads is too great for the think to heat up the water as it passes back through the tank.
I keep turning the heating off but it keeps going lower than whatever I have set the thermostat too so clicks back on. So I have put it down to five degrees. Brrrrr.
Saw a particular client for the first time since Special girl died and the client was a mess all crying and stuff. Think she thought I was heartless that I didn't. Oh well.
The weekend seems to have flown despite us not doing much (three weekends in a row where we were quite, um, hedonistic). And looking forward to four day weekend where that might be the only realistic option too. Shocking way for old married folk to be living.0 -

I assume you don't need a passport.
Do NPs have good experience of these?
Have been to jersey many times, usually we only go for 3 or 4 days now having been so frequently. Quite a few things to do and see, bit of archaelogy, WW2 features a fair bit, Durrell's zoo, some brilliant beaches, good walking, some really good restaurants and easy to go to the other islands. I could probably get a job on the tourist board there now:-)0 -
Strange things are happening with my OH Acer laptop because the screen has suddenly gone totally black. We have tried re-booting a couple of times but the fault still remains.
Now my OH will have to use SB's PC which will need updating, I suppose it will be a welcome distraction.
I was told tonight that the fault with my OH laptop was most likely to be either the Inverter or Backlight that is defective. So I think that it may be worth investing in a new one but my OH says that she will try to get used to SB's PC. As long as she is happy.:)0 -

We went to Jersey one year, thought it was a beautiful place.
Not sure if you need a passport. Legally you don't but airlines may insist on a passport to fly and it may be necessary to produce something to prove you don't IYSWIM.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We haven't really sorted the holiday thing yet. I now have cold feet about spending so much on a 'throwaway item'. Dh has said there is no ruch. Despite our favourite of the short list having a frightening price tag the booking calendar shows it has not a single booking this year.....so no rush.0

No passport required, though airlines need some form of photo id. Haven't had a passport for years and Jersey makes me feel as if I have at least gone away. Finally applying for a passport now as a supplier is threatening to take me to France for 2 days. This is a miracle as normally suppliers extend bonhomie as far asa box of chocolates at Xmas ( happy with that though:-))0
