We saw those and a rattlesnake, then went swimming in the creek. Things you don't get to do in England. Glad the kids enjoyed it. Plus a day like that should always end with Milo.
Last year we had to walk past a death adder that was having a snooze on the path. I thought they were misnamed but apparently their name is well gained.
This year we had a couple of 6ft goannas who live on the campsite, loads of kookaburras who I think were annoyed that a bunch of kids had scared off their dinner, some spectacular butterflies and assorted ants and biting insects.0 -
pondering if the weather will hold out until Thursday (when I'm off work to garden) or if I need to take another day off. This wet weather is making me a little bit annoyed...0

I find that a programme called The Weather Channel a very helpful tool to give realistic forecasts for your area.
Just download the programme and select your area.

Well the forecast was cold up to good Friday then a bit warmer especially in the far south with rain (more snow further north).
Overnight model updates suggest it may just stay cold until at least Easter MondayI think....0 -
Think it may take me a while to catch up.....
Youngest's birthday today and he is off school ill, he came down with a horrible cold Thursday evening and has been poorly ever since, so it will be a muted birthday for him (not that he cares, he doesn't 'get' what is so special about it all)
I am also in full job hunting mode now, the boys care needs have (I think), now reduced to a level where work is possible on a part time basis (my idea of part time is 16-25 hours a week) plus they do need to become more independent as uni is only 2 years away for middle son and 3 years away for youngest son, so it would be good preparation for it.
Another side effect has been that I have been able to get a couple of hours out without the boys socially last week....what a great feeling that was!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Sue, I am so glad for you that you got some time out, but also for the boys, it suggests real progress for them and this can only be good!0

PN, please sort out your set top box. (I use the radio through mine too).0

My OH and I are planning a day out to try and help us out of our depression, we are going to look at a property in Trowbridge and wonder if any of you NP's could throw any light on this area please.
We would like to hear of any points at all that you would like to share with us about what looks like a lovely Wiltshire town.0 -

Hahahahahahaha. Go back to Warminster!
Trowbridge has some very lovely architecture and has a lot of building investment ATM. It's grown in recent years and is getting dramatically bigger now.
It's also got notorious areas of poverty and I have to say, some of the behaviour I have seen in the road there reminds me of grottier bits of London.
A further down side is you might end up very near me, and I am a horrid neighbour
Seriously, Bertie, what would you like to know about Trowbridge? I will see if I can help. Honestly, I do not like it, however hard I try to. The trowle/Bradford side is nicer. The bit between the frame road/college and the westbury side is notoriously nasty (element of crime not architecture...though um.....). Pax croft mead and ...whatever the name of that old village on the east side is, is a mix between a really nice village (but on the bath road and always floods at one end) and brand new modern estate which is I believe quite ok for modern estates, and is where some of the new building is happening. (3000 new houses between there, and the 'tesco' side of town. We never, ever go out in the evening there.
It's got most of what people need though. Train to bath and the south coast, seemingly good bus routes, library, supermarkets.
Not sure whatelse to say.0 -
So, my eye is almost back to normal, but now my skin is going bananas. It's all dry and cracked, all over my face. My mother thinks its because I am too cold.
Anyway, I am getting seriously fed up now, and have managed to piddle off one of my dearest girlfriends by saying I don't much fancy going out with her and some others and dh as planned at the weekend because I look like a crocodile face and have the attitude of a caged bear ATM.
Old girl's infection is back today too, so I think I will have to call tomorrow vet for her to arrange her PTS.. It's been putting off the inevitable for a while. I might ask of we could reasonably try another course of antibiotics, but not really sure what the point is now. If only she weren't so perky it would be an easier decision.
