They also vaccinate everyone over 50 for flu (at least in some states). In the US if you're not vaccinated against a lot of things you can't go to school so I gather it's a very big deal. I'd imagine having a large mobile population whose idea of public transport is the aeroplane outbreaks are a serious threat.
Here they hold chickenpox parties or did ages ago. DD got the rash just as we flew off on holiday.

I get flu vaccine because I'm old-ish. :ONo reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Which got me thinking, what happened to dear Wheezy?
I've wondered the same.
Speaking of NPs I'd imagine Mystic Trev may be using some of the routes I use to Scotland and he can give allthesses, doozer johnnybravo and lj a wave as he zooms by.
GDB's DS might have good advice for chewie as well when he's in Edniburgh.
Plockton IIRC has the most-photographed palm trees in Scotland but that's probably because they might well be the only onesThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
They are thinking about rubella vacc, I am robust ATM, and calling me back this afternoon. Dh has to speak to them himself. They said not a single other person has asked and they haven't thought about it.
Rubella is german measles, which is a mild disease in itself, so not that important to immunise against - unless you hope to get pregnant.
Measles is a far more serious risk.
The added complication is that vaccinating against measles is only possible through the NHS as part of the triple MMR, which would also cover you against rubella, so why do rubella alone? Even privately the measles injection is difficult to source.
Incidentally the Swansea problem came about because people signed up to privately vaccinate all 3 in stages and the measles jab was difficult to supply in sufficient quantities. Parents who had done the rubella jab privately were then left with the dilemma of joining a waiting list for measles or going back to the NHS for the MMR. But these were the people who didn't originally want the MMR so were hardly likely to have it after the rubella jab. So they joined waiting lists; then kids got coughs and colds so they had to delay jabs, which meant they were still on lists and some never got round to it....I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. All the doctors I have seen have said its really important that 'when I can' I get the rubella vacc. Then have said I am not well enough.
I don't know why it's important I have it, and other deseases have never been discussed. I wonder if rubella or others might have a mild enchapelitis impact or something? More sweeping in that headspace cannot be good, and wonder if that could be the concern?
I don't care which form I have it in. The only reason I know I missed it is because I was not at school on rubella vacc day and it never seemed like an issue to me until I got ill. The only vaccination I know about was whooping cough because I had whooping cough the illness, The others I haven't got a clue either tbh.0 -

DS usually says "It's freezing in Edinburgh!" and "Man up!"
BTW, I meant to ask Chewie how he's getting on now that the FSA has been abolished and we now have the FCA and PRA. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose, I suspect. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I've had 4 rubella jabs. I have no immunity to it, never have. It doesn't seem to "take" on me.
I've refused any more. My mother had 9 before she got fed up, and said she couldn't see what no. 10 would do that the previous 9 hadn't....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

There's a sweet spot in the middle around Stirlingshire near the safari park where they have their own microclimate. Always seems to be a heatwave on when I go there. They chose the location well.;)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Were you both especially careful during your pregnancies?
I can quite see there is no point repeating an injection that doesn't do what it's meant to for you.
I'm actually feeling quite proud of myself for getting all of this sorted out ATM. Only thing is I forgot to buy puppy food in my smug sense of achievement earlier:o
Edit: Surgery just phoned back. They want to do a blood test first to see what immunity status is. Booked in, with maximum efficiency for an appointment after my smear. This is all terribly responsible of me and efficient of them.0
