I and my brother had measles, can't remember it as I was too young. We also had chicken pox and mumps. My sister had to be awkward and get german measles when she was at primary school.
Out of my children, James has had chicken pox twice, the first time giving it to his father, the other two had it once, giving it to James for the second time.
James has also had mumps three times, despite having his MMR and booster.
The MMR is a contentious issue in my family especially where the male borns are concerned. It may be anecdotal but middle son had his MMR and booster but there was a very noticable increase in adverse behaviour following his booster. Youngest lost his speech, his interest in the world and people after his first jab as a baby, he has not had his booster...it was just too much of a risk after what happened with middle son as we had only just got him to start making sounds again.
Whether that was the right decision or not I don't know but for us at the time, we just couldn't risk it.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Not a snog in sight there... illusion busted.
Well, I am normally not a thanks junkie, but looking back this morning, a question about vacs gets six, a bit of smut gets double figures.

Does anyone have any recommendations about what I should do.
NB I've already got "drink a bit too much single malt and argue about Aberdeen house prices" on the list.
I am a little envious.. I know it wouldn't be your thing, but finding some highland ponies to explore on would be high on my list. I adore highland ponies, my favourite of the British natives.

Although not on Skye, but not far away, the areas around Shiedaig and Applecross would make a nice day drive. You could also visit Plockton, which has been used as the background for many Films and TV programs.
I'm off to Scotland in two weeks time, although I'll be much further south in the 'Borders' I'm staying in Wigtown, Scotland's version of Hay-on-Wye.0 -
Your sister did that, or perhaps I'm not paying proper attention?

I'm more concerned about the fact I've never had Chutqvavila (quick Google says it's Chickenpox in the UK), and neither has DD1. As you know, I've got no immune system whatsoever, so that could potentially be nasty!
Are you sure? MIght you not have had it when you were too young to remember?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I had chickenpox as an adult in my 30s and it was awful. I looked like Freddie Kruger and my face peeled off. Horrid. Sorry if I've disturbed anyone's eating of cornflakes with this description. That's with a functioning immune system. Is there any vaccination? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

The paediatrician in OHs family says that signs of being on the autistic spectrum usually show themselves in the same age range as we vaccinate (is it 12-18 months?) couple that with being off colour generally setting kids back and people link the 2 when there is no connection. His children were all vaccinated.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I also assumed that (LIR and PN are no doubt thinking how boring), it was the fact that you identified only those 2 things as being perverted which therefore implied that anything else goes....
Do I have to justify myself, or do I let it lie?

We don't know whether dh has had a measles jab (or anything else for that matter). Obviously his mother isn't around to ask, and the gp here said records don't go back that far, in Italy there is no record of him having any vacs. He remembers having some, so that was probably in uk.
If the gp says record don't go back that far again, what do we do to find out?
I didn't have all of mine but went to mumps parties (don't think I caught mups though) and did have whooping cough when I was a kid. I know I haven't had rubella but haven't been able to get it since I pointed this out after I got I'll because I haven't been considered well enough for the vaccination. (Though I know I would be).
It's never seemed a real issue till this measles outbreak....not sure what he should do...
Thinking about this some more, if you aren't well there is even more reason for fir to have the vaccination, to protect you from catching it from him.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. zagubov wrote:They're quite rightly trying to get Swansea to catch up with the rest of us. In the last twenty years there were at least three years when the Uk had absolutely zero measles deaths (out of a global annual rate of about 120,000) In some parts of the world they say never count your kids till afte the measles.
Yes. The point I was making was that they should be vaccinating everyone, not just those who definitely weren't previously vaccinated. First of all it gives a greater chance of immunity after a booster jab, secondly it avoids people ducking under the radar and thirdly it prevents people declining the jab because they are too embarrassed to admit that they listened to the dodgy evidence a few years ago.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
