Is it in Hi-Fidelity (yes I know carp men's chick-lit) where he arranges his albums in the order he acquired them which I think is a great idea...
    I think....

Are any other NP going to be in Sweden?

Every year we talk about going, but then don't get round to organising until it's too late, the hotel rooms are expensive and so are the flights. Maybe next year, providing it isn't in somewhere that I can't get to on DH's airline (no that isn't a posh alert, he just works for an airline, I realised after I typed it that it sounded like DH was Richard Branson).

I haven't heard any of the songs yet, I normally watch the two semi-finals and that's the first time I get to hear them.

    Have fun!

Compilations or collaborations? That's where it stars to get tricky....

I'd shelve the artists alphabetically by surname. Collaborations by the surname of the first named collaborator and have a separate section at the end for compilations which are alphabetically by title. That's how we do it in Library Land anyway.

ETA: the hardest decision comes with classical CDs. Traditionally you'd put them in composer order, but now you have superstars singing excerpts from multiple composers, so your sequence could go Bach, Bocelli, Brahms... Maybe I should think in terms of date of acquisition too, though I can't remember what I bought 25 years ago.

I don't know if anyone else has a Shelfari shelf, but it portrays the books you've read in acquisition order. When you peruse shelves of your friends, you can definitely see when they are going through a phase!

How do you measure - is it external dimensions x number of storeys or are you supposed to size every room - what about stairs?

I think they just measure the outside of the house and multiply by the number of floors. Quite straightforward if it is rectangular or square. If you have sticky outy bits I guess you measure those separately. I'm not sure what you'd do if you've got a round bit though, I should have tried harder in maths.

I am feeling very non MSE as our annual gas is about £950 and the elec runs at around £900pa .

I confess to very non MSE behaviour as, apart from not having a Nectar card (nor any other clubcard as they clutter up my purse) we don't switch utilities. The amount of time it takes and the research, I just lose the will to live.
So, we try to do it Old Style by minimising usage.

.....but I have found a good digital wall paper printing company so we will use do our own wallpaper for any feature walls.

Phew! I didn't like to mention the lack of switching, or the lack of devotion to clubcards, though I have a tescos linked to avios.
Re beds I am sleeping upside down in mine for a change of scene these days...

Decorating the bedroom at the moment and my bed is in the middle of the floor to let the sparky put in some new sockets. Decorating most of the house, pretty much on a shoestring as the intention is to sell it next year ( doubt it will be done this year).

Over Xmas I used fabric on two walls in the boxroom that I use as an office - now that was MSE! Entire roll from R A Smarts factory in their annual sale for £8.00. Outline of the London skyline on a cream background, looks far more expensive than it actually was.

Ok, so we don't all have 'play rooms' and not everything done is everyone's cup' o'tea but it was hardly that unbelievable.

So, you will eventually have several guest bedrooms. You could decorate and equip one of the guest bedrooms as a 'play room' as a special surprise for some carefully-selected guests. You could keep note of how some of them cope with it or make use of the special facilities. :D

Unlink tesco from avios. Save up your tesco vouchers and when tesco offer bonus time change over your accumulated vouchers.

Last year tesco had a promotion offering 900 avios for a £2.50 voucher instead of the usual 600 avios. If you had saved up your vouchers and changed the lot in one go you would have had 50% more!

Not sure if it helps the comparison Spirit, but my 3 bedroom house is about 85 sq m, possibly a bit more, but part is a garage and that's not heated. Hopefully this means it isn't a like for like comparison.

Hi Viva. Mines 92.7 sq m, including the garage, which sits below the third bedroom and beside the hallway. I'm now spending most of my time at home during the Winter, as I don't do as much traveling as I used to, and I keep the place warm all the time. I run my heating off the thermostat (not timer) at 20c turning it down to 15c when I go to bed. My current tariff is EDF Blue, fixed for two Winters and expires April next year. I imagine my costs will be somewhat higher after that!
