Forced myself to put away two loads of dry washing. It took almost exactly half the time to do this as I spent thinking about starting it.

Wet load is on the line.

Flylady says one of the best ways to keep the house in order is to pick up after yourself - that is so true, why has it taken me nearly 40 years to learn it.

Am about to start Nick Hornby's "How to be Good" Book. So a pleasant skive for an hour or so.

This did make me laugh......my washing from days ago is still on airer. I think us folk who tend to hoard stuff or fill our heads with other things need to accept that we are never going to be anal about having the perfect home. I read the flylady thread once and ran for the hills. Each to their own, but I don't want to be some kind of cleaning robot.....i got a distinct wiff of stepford wives. I am probably wrong of course as i'm sure it has many fab tips on it......will read again later.

Nothing done this end as been at work and playing with Asbo-cat. I have I think found somewhere that doesn't take 14wks to get sofas delivered, and need cupboards built as have got to a 'stop' point as no cupboards in newish houses!

Everyone certainly seems to be doing well though, despite the hot weather....good job folks
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

back from camping early: too hot, kids unhappy, thought sod it, if it's not fun it's not worth persevering. have thrown the 3 air beds that have slow leaks (I know they have slow leaks and therefore take spare-but-less-good ones as well, but somehow think the leaky ones will work *this time* d'oh).
a pan in the cs pile, I don't like these pans so every time I reach in the cupboard and pull out one of them, I put it back and root around for the ones I do like - no more, from now on when I pull one of these out it's going to be straight in the cs box.

car is not unpacked, I feel like I've been run over by a very small vehicle, everything aches after packing on my own, putting up camping gear on my own, 2 nights of sleeping on slow punctured airbeds waking up too early, essentially on the floor and dessicated, and then taking it all down on my own in mid-day sun.

i'll get to it tomorrow, and there's no rubbish in the car so it will be easier. we are going to have 2 lazy at home days instead, that will be a nice change :)

    :) Evening all.

Been MIA from the interweb as was camping in the heat and can sympathise with lobbyludd on that one.

Have come home with a book from a freebie box which I'm just about to finish and will put in the charity shop bag, plus have decided that an (unopened) toiletry item was a mistake and can go as well. Plus a few other bits.

Can't top the elderly frozen steak tale but was putting in the first batch of 2013 broad beans into mine this evening and found that I still have two small bags of 2012 ones.

Have moved the new ones to the back and put different coloured twisty-ties on the new ones so they won't get confused.

I have a floor somewhere, but a few things seem to have taken over. Got a tradesman in tomorrow but a friend will be supervising him, so at least my blushes will be spared.

    :o But not if I don't do the dishes, I think...... :o

Naff all happening around here on the de-hoarding front, it's been far too humid. Well done to anyone who's managed to get anything done:T:T:T

Well tomorrow the school holidays start - and so must the decluttering!

But on Wednesday I am probably heading back to my mums to see if I can unearth any more gems along the line of the steak and the home bottled fruit (1980) found early in the new year.

I will do some sorting tomorrow - on my last morning with guaranteed peace and quiet... until September.

Things are actually going ok here -although the onset of rain has meant I've had to bring the garden toys inside again - instant clutter. Suggested to OH that we purchase an outdoor storage cupboard for these things only to be told no. It's very hard to be tidy when he simply won't purchase furniture. Nearly 5 years in this house and we still don't have a wardrobe for our clothes!

Anyway, been pottering around doing bits at a time. Had a pleasant surprise this morning when little DD woke with the thunder - I was actually able to get out of bed without having to swing my legs over piles of rubbish normally stored right next to my side of the bed! It's the small things! :D

I've got the eBay bug again so have listed a few things. I've got bags full of bits to try and sell (and an open charity bag for things that don't!).

We have a shops here which does eBay for you, and I have decided that I m going to take a load of stuff there. They take a third of what you make  but I will still get more than the charity shop and it may make more with them doing a better listing than I can. I have quite a lot of stuff which is awkward to know how to list (trampoline parts, cot sides for the caravan - weird stuff) so I will take it to them when I get back from my hols. This will make a lot of space for things we need to keep.

No dr-richarding today, I just couldn't be bothered....in fact have added stuff as bought a whole load of shampoos and conditioners. I put up a set of fairylights in the conservatory, I already have a pile of post, will have to dig out a couple of files to organise stuff more. Went food shopping, but that's about it really today. Asbo cat has found a box with a pillow in it and has taken this spot for today's bed....a good excuse not to sort that one out anyway.

Tomorrow the plan is to go and order sofas so I have something for people to sit on when they come..i'm hoping I will find something I like in the 'deliver in 3 days' range rather than having to wait weeks and weeks. I was meant to do this today but had my lazy head on....oh I did sweep and clean the laminate flooring.....definately not keen on it though, just makes a place seem like a dust bowl. I don't know how that is meant to be better for asthma sufferers as any dust floats about rather than settling onto a carpet. Anyhow i'm rabbiting on now.

I will go and order sofas tomorrow......I will go and order sofas tomorrow...........

    Hi people,

The shops that do ebay for you sound good, think i'll see if I can find any in my area. That sounds good for impulse chucking rather than stuff hanging about and then staying put.

Got my !!! out to the shops today first thing. Have ordered 2 sofas (last time it took me 3 months to decide so I hope I like them when they arrive. It always feels risky ordering something in a different colour to the one you can see in front of you, and they always look pants on the virtual pics on their computers) . Anyhow it's ordered now so that's that......12 -16 weeks due to colour I want.......but as luck would have it the area manager was in and overheard me talking to the assistant, came over, and told me I can borrow a sofa for the time it takes mine to arrive...he was a really cool bloke actually. said I couls have a huge black one, but I asked if I could have the one in white that is the same range as the one's i'm ordering and he said yes.....result!! this means I have a sofa for the house warming in sept.

This has spurted me into action, have dusted the lounge window sills, tidied papers up (well just hidden them really in a pile to be honest), brushed flipping laminate floor......AGAIN.....pretty annoying stuff is that laminate. Have put loads of rubbish paper in recycle bin, missed household bin today so now stuck for another two weeks (will have to take rubbish to work and put in the huge bins there).

Did have a slight relapse as I somehow fell into TkMAX as I went past, got the estate agent girl a pressie as she had been really helpful with the whole house thing, and somehow grabbed another 2 candle holders for myself. I wonder which comes first or is more a problem with me......is it really hoarding....or a shopping addiction....Hmmmmmmm.?

Plan for rest of today is more washing, and tidy kitchen which seems to already getting cluttered and i've only been here 2 weeks. I should also sort stuff to put in the shed.

Good luck to those dr-richarding today.

Have had a bad time today...only in that I chucked a load of stuff and went through the stuff I have for my Dad passing and other 'dead people' (pets) stuff. But sorted pics and have put 'dead pets' where they used to be but it doesn't seem right here somehow.

Will maybe have to look at new spot for them (only two) I don't hoard that too much yet....

It's gone really quiet on here which I guess is normal for school hols.

    GOOD luck to those de-richarding.
