I've got the lace around the neck sewn and it doesn't look too bad. Just the sleeves and the bottom hem to do.
It's been sitting around the living room since February............:o:huh: Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Well, after I went offline last night, I had at the professional magazines and they were very interesting. I read two of five and put them out for recycling, am positively looking forward to the remaining three. And to think they'd sat unmoving from the place I'd plonked them more than a week ago when I took them out of my workbag.......
I read something in one of Don Aslett's decluttering books, which he's told people many a time; magazines are 70% adverts. Adverts are updated regularly. So, if you're holding onto stacks of magazines, three-quarters of the mass is useless ads, and of the rest, there will be many things which won't interest you at all, clothes for sale that season and not thereafter and endlessly regurgitated elf & booty stories.
What they're never going to tell you is that the easiest way to improve your looks is to get enough sleep, and that any cream is as good as an expensive one, and that the loveliest thing you can wear is a smile.
I have several things floating around the surfaces of the living room and kitchen. The reason they're out rather than in their proper places is each requires something from me; a few minutes' sewing, a sorting, whatever. If I were to put them where they belong with this thing undone, it would just cause further aggravation when I reached for them next time and found them not ready to use.
Sooo, I have decided to schedule some time this evening to catch up with these little bitty things and get them away. It'll be a relief not to have them nagging at me, some have been around for weeks if not months.:oEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

junk mail and some bits and bobs into recycling, 4 more plants in ground. 30 slugs forked. a few bits of clothes put away.
very sluggish myself at the mo, not on a roll at all, just trying to keep on top of things so they don't accumulate more.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Well, not going great guns, but I can walk across the floor without stepping over debris, so that's an improvement on how it appears some of the time.
I'm finding it very theraputic to get the recycling out on a daily basis, or every second day, if possible. I had been collecting plastic 4 pint milk bottles for a specific purpose and had a few floating around the counter before I realised that the purpose was fulfilled, so out they went.
I got a couple of the wee niggly chores done yesterday evening but was tired and feeling a touch mutinous about housework, so skived off doing any more than two at a time.
Does anyone else feel like a mutinous child being nagged by a parent, whilst simulatanously being both child and parent? Or am I a bit bonkers (answer; almost certainly).:rotfl:
Today won't be replete with clutter-clearing opportunities as I will be out for most of the day, but I'll try to do something to keep my self-respect going, if only the dishes.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I was looking for a large baking tray last night and got one of a posh set out of the cupboard - at which point I found out that it won't fit in the oven! It's going in the next charity bag.......
I may add our perfectly serviceable steamer to the bag. We were gifted an electric one and we really like it - it has more tiers than ours...:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -

No, I completely understand. That's exactly how I feel.
Was struggling with my revision last night when the '9pm wave of tiredness' struck, so instead of giving up revision, I gave myself that 15 minute break you mentioned and tidied up a small tiny portion of the bedroom. Went back to studying a lot fresher after that and felt better too (although the room didn't look any better, it's amazing how little you get done in 15 minutes...)"Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0 -
2 more of dd's clothes and 2 of mine in cs bag, some washing put away, post dealt with and school letters requiring response by door ready to go straight back out. have realise some decking that I'm removing can be turned into planters - have all fixings so if vaguely fine will get to that this weekend. None of this is top priority or making a huge difference, but am trying to chip away until energy comes back.:AA/give up smoking (done)0

Well, a car boot load went to the tip from the boxes in the garage this afternoon! Why I didn't bin it instead of bringing it with us when we moved, heavens only knows. Hopefully we have cleared enough space in the garage to clear the storage unit we have! That will save us £40 a month, hurrah!
Of course, that means that I will have more boxes to go throughGood enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

Hellooo,
I was on the original thread for a while, but got side tracked by a couple of deaths and a job loss.
I am living in an assault course. This is due to the fact that I am moving so sorting things out.....but what to keep and what to throw out?? I did cat-flap (give to people...this was originaly literally threw nxtdoor cat-flap) around 60 books, and did feel a bit better as to be fair I was never going to read them again (did have mild panic at actual hand over point for a moment).
I have decided i'm getting movers in to do it all, but to be fair I need to sort loads of stuff before they can even do that.
I feel sick, not sure if it's the stress or what feels like buckets of wine I have managed to consume in the last week......luckily the fridge is white and big so never lost the wine in the chaos.
I think it feels overwhelming as it's got to that stage where there is stuff flaming everywhere. I have managed to look at it today with a slightly more sensible head and have packed up a box of duvet covers, a box of pillow cases, a box of curtains, and bags and bags of cushions.
It's all the drawers that will be hard with loads of really useful 'stuff' in them....i will have to be ruthless I think, and I really do need to be organised or the other end will be a nightmare.
Anyhow, that's my moan over.
Hope everyone else is managing to de-clutter (wasn't it de-richard in the first thread?)Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Calico... sort through the drawers by all means but to make it easier moving.. you leave the drawers full.. take them out of the chest.. put the chest in the van and put the drawers back in.. it saves a great deal of packing.. obviously if you have time to go through and fling stuff from the drawers do it but if packing other stuff is a more efficient use of your time do that instead.. and a big fat marker pen to write on what is in the boxes so you have no boxes of surprises helps massively. .. also if you write on which room you want the boxes putting into that makes it a lot easier when you do get moved as well.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
