    :wave:Good morning

Three CS bags went to the CS yesterday :T AND I received a voucher 'cause the dressing gown was M&S :T AND I signed up to Gift Aid the donation and any further donations. AND I felt a real buzz when I left the shop. I need to fill another bag now, so I can stick my tag on :). AND the CS lady says they take rags to recycle, holey shoes - all sorts of stuff that I would bin. Amazing!

    Hi, roundtuit!

I try to throw away as little as possible. I recycle where I can and if I think someone could use it, I try to take it where it's needed. One of my local charity shops even takes old mobiles and print cartridges.

I've got a bin bag filling up............

Clothes I've bought and had second thoughts about, a couple of books, a pair of charity shop jeans which says they're size 22, but could easily fit a size 24, a little plastic basket, a belt, a pair of steel toe caps which have been replaced by a much more comfy pair and a pair of Lomer walking shoes which have been trouble since I bought them (in a charity shop).

The final straw with these shoes was when one of the eyelets fell off as the stitching had come undone.

They've been waiting for weeks for me to stitch them back together before I bring them to the CS. I can't bring myself to dump broken stuff for sale, so I've got to fix it before it goes.

I finally got around to it (:rotfl:) this morning. I was dreading this little job, as I had built it up as being hard. A sharp needle, some strong thread and the 'close up' glasses later and it was less than 20 minutes. I'll bring it to the CS today.

I don't have anything big, to fling, charity shop, recycle or give away any more but I've got a load of these little bits to put together or do.

    I think I need a roundtuit! :D
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

:D We all need a roundtuit.

Except the person who donated theirs to one of my local c.s. shops who has obviously achieved enlightenment (geddit?) and doesn't need one any more.

I confessed to a friend who has Isshews with stuff also that I hoard shortcuts to hoarding and minimalism websites. That is very wrong in a post-modern sort of way.:rotfl:

Decided to award myself a day of Catching up with Stuff at home, which will involve various chores and some decluttering.

I decluttered a book I'd had for 2-3 years to Mum (after I'd read it) and she read it in a few days and loved it, and it's now in the chazzer bag at her house and will go out shortly. Considering it came from a chazzer in the first place, there is a nice circularity to that.

I enjoy reading and passing on books. We handle books carefully as a family and this is in very good nick, and can be passed on through many other readers, making money for the charities as it goes. How more productive is that than stashing it on a shelf for years gathering dust, packing it into moving boxes, dragging it across town/ county/ country and eventually junking it decades later because it has become hopelessly dated and no one wants to read it?

It's like that with a lot of things, if you think about it; they can fester in the non-archive non-museum conditions of our homes to the point where they become useless or there are so many of them that we damage them accidentally.

Can I just put in my two'pennorth concerning payslips etc.

As part of my job, I answer enquiries about claiming housing benefit and council tax reductions. Many a time I've had to deal with someone who had discarded payslips and bank statements for the period they're claiming for. You can't calculate a means-tested benefit when someone cannot evidence their means. If this might apply to yourself, please keep the original payslips/ bank statements covering the period in question.

Righty, off to venture under the kitchen sink. If I'm not back in an hour, can someone please call the fire brigade? I won't have got stuck but if the firemen are hunky enough, I'm prepared to pretend.;)

Don't buy a roundtuit from a CS - we think they are from a defective batch and they don't work!

Perhaps I should hire myself out :rotfl:but I can't see that being a good idea as I'm more inclined to say 'oh leave it let's have a :coffee: and a natter. Which I guess makes me a defective Roundtuit too:) and hence my need for this thread :D

Our LA provides 3 bins and 2 boxes so I do recycle where I can - and the right sort of rags go to my dad to wipe oily hands/ kart parts on. But holey shoes????? what do the CS do with those!!

I need better storage - not so that I can keep more, but normal storage like a CoD in each bedroom for my and DS clothes. Like 'normal' people have :o. Not got a lot of spare cash though - any tips? ( as in ideas, I'm not planning on raiding any landfill :rotfl:not that hard-up.....yet.

    Back later Rxx

ETA Greyqueen needs a roundtuit too. I might have found a new role in life...especially if it involves hunky firemen hehe.

:) Well, had a little bit of a paper cull, accidentally had kept the travel details and boarding card from a hol I had in 2011 in a little folder which I use for such purposes. As I didn't go away at all last year, the folder didn't get decluttered for the new lot.

Travel insurance policy booklet and related general guff into recycling, specific-to-me stuff shredded and stuff with a clear side quartered for scratch notes. I do actually use a lot of this at home and at work, so demand keep up with supply.

I also found a travel brochure from 2012 (the year of no holiday) which is into the recycling. I shall jettison that on my way out of the block in a few mins as I go over to visit with a friend.

We shall declutter a bottle from my fridge on the way, pal and I can share it, and then pops it into the recyling as I leave hers.

It's all good. Keep up the good work, fellow declutterers. Bye for now. GQ xx

Throw payslips away when p60 comes (keep as 3 months and any with anomalies )
    Bb delurks - hello peeps:wave::wave::wave:

I'd say, stop beating yourself up - look at what you have achieved - major breakthrough in getting rid of a lot of payslips and the determination to break this pattern:T

suzitiger - I get frustrated at my own 'behaviour' sometimes too. I can 'see' the rational way of doing things, but I have to do things my way even if it takes longer as otherwise I am overwhelmed by anxietystress/whatever, and then I stop altogether. So every little step is a step forward and the lovely people on this thread have an understanding of how difficult some 'little' steps are. ( one little step for 'normal' folk can be a giant leap for a Roundtuit type folk!)

Paid work and AF have just about floored me this week - but I am staying on top of the recycling and I'll be decluttering a little more this weekend.

    Rxx

THANK you everyone I feel MUCH better about it. I have done the same with the bank statements and some ccard statements too, working my way through the paperwork moutain :D
Totally agree with roundtuit, It is an anxiety thing, I just feel better if I look at them so I can say 'yep, that's fine to go', common wit most hoarders I think, it is compulsive behaviour which is why on the OCD cleaners programme on channel 4 I got quite angry with the bodybuilder man who shouted at the hoarder lady for her saying she thought there were similarities in the conditions......anyone remember that?

Thank you Greyqueen. I keep everything that is within 3 years in date as that is how long credit reference people hold your information for. If I need to claim tax back I keep the payslips and I will keep all my business info for 7 years as I believe that is the requirement by law. Hence why I am clearing out stuff so there is room to keep the stuff I need to keep :)

2 charity bags collected this morning! So I will not be falling over DD2's clothes that she has shrunk out of any more! (Two years ago she was a size 16/18 - now she is a 6/8!)
